Role Context
The Plant Operator - Process Operations will carry out daily operational duties across assigned plant areas to support production continuity, equipment reliability, and safe process control. The role requires close attention to pressures, temperatures, flow rates, equipment condition, chemical preparation, permit requirements, and contractor activities. By following procedures, communicating clearly with supervisors, and responding correctly during emergencies, the position helps maintain operational stability and supports ADNOC’s safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate and monitor assigned process plant, machinery, equipment, and facilities in line with approved operating procedures.
* Carry out daily operational tasks safely and according to Standard Operating Procedures and company HSE requirements.
* Perform routine checks on equipment and plant conditions to identify abnormalities, defects, leaks, unsafe conditions, or performance issues.
* Report equipment defects and abnormal observations to the reporting supervisor for timely servicing, maintenance, or corrective action.
* Adjust and monitor operating parameters such as speed, temperature, pressure, and flow rate to support stable process performance.
* Support safe and effective shutdown and start-up operations by following instructions, procedures, and plant readiness requirements.
* Prepare plant and equipment for maintenance to ensure isolation, safety, proper functioning, and coordination with related systems.
* Receive chemicals, maintain stock and consumption registers, and prepare chemical batches required for process operations.
* Ensure chemical handling, storage, preparation, and usage follow approved procedures and HSE rules.
* Operate related machinery and equipment safely, efficiently, and according to company standards and operational instructions.
* Follow all relevant safety, quality, and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls.
* Support employee safety, legislative compliance, responsible environmental practices, and delivery of high-quality operational service.
* Obtain work permits, follow ongoing jobs, and monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures.
* Coordinate with supervisors and maintenance teams during ongoing plant work, equipment servicing, and field activities.
* Carry out duties as Auxiliary Fireman or Site Safety Officer during emergencies when required under the Facility Response Plan.
* Communicate clearly with the supervisor and follow instructions to complete assigned duties safely and efficiently.
* Prepare key performance indicator checklists and operational commitment updates for management review.
* Maintain awareness of plant conditions, field risks, operational changes, and emergency response requirements during each shift.
* Support smooth handover by sharing accurate updates on plant status, ongoing work, equipment concerns, and pending operational matters.
Ideal Profile
* Technical Diploma in a relevant field or Secondary School Certificate.
* Minimum 4 years of experience in plant operations within a large industrial plant in the Oil and Energy sector.
* Practical experience operating process plant equipment, monitoring field parameters, and supporting start-up or shutdown activities.
* Good understanding of Standard Operating Procedures, HSE rules, permit-to-work systems, and plant safety practices.
* Able to identify abnormal equipment conditions and report defects clearly for maintenance follow-up.
* Experience handling chemicals, maintaining stock or consumption registers, and preparing process chemical batches is an advantage.
* Familiar with plant equipment preparation for maintenance, contractor activity monitoring, and safe field coordination.
* Able to respond to emergency requirements and support auxiliary fire or site safety duties when required.
* Strong awareness of quality, environmental, and safety standards in oil and gas operations.
* Good communication skills with the ability to follow supervisor instructions and work effectively within shift teams.
* Reliable, alert, and disciplined with strong attention to operating parameters, field checks, and safety details.
