Role Context
The Plant Operator - Process Operations will support daily plant performance by carrying out safe operational tasks, monitoring process parameters, checking equipment condition, preparing equipment for maintenance, handling process chemicals, supporting permit activities, and participating in emergency response duties when required. The role requires strong discipline in following SOPs, HSE procedures, housekeeping standards, and supervisor instructions while maintaining clear communication with operations, maintenance, contractors, and site support teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate and monitor process plant and facilities in assigned areas according to approved operating procedures and company HSE standards.
* Carry out assigned operational work safely and in line with standard operating procedures.
* Perform routine checks on plant equipment to identify abnormalities, defects, leaks, unusual readings, or unsafe conditions.
* Report equipment defects and coordinate with the reporting supervisor to arrange inspection, servicing, or maintenance support.
* Monitor and adjust speeds, temperatures, pressures, flow rates, and other process parameters as required.
* Support safe and effective shutdown and start-up operations according to operating procedures and supervisor instructions.
* Prepare plant equipment for maintenance to ensure accurate isolation, safe access, and proper synchronization with other equipment and plant systems.
* Receive chemicals and maintain stock and consumption registers accurately.
* Prepare chemical batches required for process operations while following approved procedures and HSE requirements.
* Operate related machinery and equipment safely and efficiently in line with company standards and instructions.
* Ensure compliance with relevant safety, quality, and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls.
* Support safe operations, legislative compliance, quality service delivery, and responsible environmental practices.
* Obtain work permits for operational and maintenance-related activities as required.
* Follow up ongoing jobs and monitor contractor activities to ensure adherence to safety regulations and work procedures.
* Carry out duties as Auxiliary Fireman or Site Safety Officer during emergencies when assigned under the Facility Response Plan.
* Communicate with and follow instructions from the Supervisor to perform duties efficiently and safely.
* Prepare key performance indicator checklists and operational updates for management review.
* Implement and comply with functional policies, systems, standards, processes, and procedures to achieve operational objectives.
* Provide on-the-job training to support competency-based training programs for UAE Nationalization.
* Identify opportunities to improve operating procedures, functional processes, safety performance, and work efficiency.
* Comply with HSE policies, procedures, controls, applicable legislation, sustainability guidelines, and ADNOC Code of Practices.
* Participate in emergency response duties as a team member when required.
* Maintain the work area in a clean, safe, and orderly condition before and during operations.
* Follow established hygiene and housekeeping standards across assigned operating areas.
* Provide input for section progress reports and operational performance updates.
* Coordinate with line managers, peers, company employees, consultants, third-party service providers, government agencies, and other stakeholders when required.
Ideal Profile
* Technical Diploma in a relevant field or Secondary School Certificate.
* Minimum 4 years of experience in plant operations within a large industrial plant in the Oil and Energy sector.
* Practical understanding of process plant operations, equipment monitoring, start-up activities, shutdown activities, and routine field checks.
* Good knowledge of standard operating procedures, plant safety rules, HSE requirements, and emergency response practices.
* Experience with process parameter monitoring, including temperatures, pressures, flow rates, and equipment operating conditions.
* Ability to identify equipment abnormalities, report defects, and coordinate with supervisors for maintenance support.
* Familiarity with permit-to-work systems, contractor monitoring, maintenance preparation, and safe job follow-up.
* Basic knowledge of chemical receiving, chemical batching, stock registers, and chemical consumption tracking.
* Able to follow supervisor instructions, communicate clearly, and work safely as part of an operations team.
* Willing to participate in emergency response duties, including Auxiliary Fireman or Site Safety Officer responsibilities when required.
* Strong awareness of housekeeping, hygiene, environmental responsibility, and safe workplace practices.
* Comfortable working in air-conditioned environments with occasional exposure to heat, humidity, dust, and prevailing site conditions.
