Role Context
The Plant Operator - Process Operations will support safe and continuous operation of process plant equipment and assigned facilities by following standard operating procedures, monitoring process parameters, reporting abnormalities, and preparing equipment for maintenance. This position contributes directly to production reliability, equipment safety, environmental compliance, contractor control, emergency readiness, and the smooth execution of start-up, shutdown, and routine operating activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate and monitor assigned process plant facilities in line with standard operating procedures, operating instructions, and company HSE standards.
* Carry out daily operational tasks safely and consistently according to approved plant procedures and assigned work standards.
* Perform routine checks on plant equipment, machinery, instruments, and process areas to detect abnormalities, defects, unsafe conditions, or performance concerns.
* Report equipment defects and abnormal operating conditions to the supervisor and support coordination for required servicing or maintenance.
* Adjust and monitor process parameters such as speeds, temperatures, pressures, and flow rates to maintain safe and stable plant operation.
* Support shutdown and start-up operations by monitoring process changes and ensuring activities are carried out effectively and safely.
* Prepare plant equipment for maintenance activities to support proper isolation, safe access, and accurate functioning after work completion.
* Ensure plant and equipment preparation is synchronized with related systems, equipment, and operational requirements.
* Receive chemicals, maintain chemical stock and consumption registers, and prepare chemical batches required for the process.
* Handle chemicals according to approved procedures while following all HSE rules, safety precautions, and environmental requirements.
* Operate related machinery and equipment safely, efficiently, and in line with company standards and supervisor instructions.
* Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls.
* Support safe delivery of high-quality operations while maintaining a responsible environmental attitude.
* Obtain work permits and follow up ongoing jobs to ensure field activities are performed safely and according to approved conditions.
* Monitor contractor activities in assigned areas and ensure contractors comply with safety regulations, permit requirements, and work procedures.
* Communicate clearly with the supervisor and follow instructions to carry out operational duties efficiently and safely.
* Support emergency response activities as Auxiliary Fireman or Site Safety Officer when required under the Facility Response Plan.
* Prepare key performance indicator commitment checklists and operational records for management review.
* Maintain clear operating logs, shift information, equipment status updates, chemical usage records, and relevant field observations.
* Support coordination between operations, maintenance, safety, and contractor teams to minimize downtime and maintain plant reliability.
* Identify unsafe acts or abnormal field conditions and take immediate action according to approved safety procedures.
* Contribute to reliable production performance by maintaining discipline in checking, recording, communicating, and following operating instructions.
Ideal Profile
* Technical Diploma in a relevant field or Secondary School Certificate.
* Minimum 4 years of experience in plant operations within a large industrial plant.
* Experience in the oil and gas industry is required.
* Good understanding of process plant operations, equipment monitoring, routine field checks, and operating procedures.
* Practical knowledge of start-up, shutdown, process parameter monitoring, equipment preparation, and maintenance support activities.
* Familiarity with pressures, temperatures, flow rates, operating limits, and abnormal condition reporting.
* Experience with chemical receiving, stock control, consumption registers, and chemical batch preparation.
* Understanding of work permit systems, contractor monitoring, field safety controls, and maintenance coordination.
* Knowledge of HSE procedures, emergency response requirements, environmental controls, and safe operating practices.
* Ability to operate machinery and equipment safely according to company standards and instructions.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to follow supervisor instructions and coordinate with operations, maintenance, and contractor teams.
* Good checking, examining, recording, reporting, and checklist preparation skills.
* Able to work in an Oil and Energy plant environment where safety, reliability, discipline, and procedure compliance are essential.
