Role Context
The Principal Operations Engineer is responsible for leading offshore fabrication strategies and installation readiness across major energy infrastructure projects. This role ensures technical compliance, operational efficiency, contractor coordination, and fabrication progress management from planning to offshore execution. The position directly supports safe project delivery, strong stakeholder coordination, and productivity control throughout the fabrication lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
* Review and approve installation procedures and engineering documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements and safe offshore execution
* Supervise Field Engineers during project planning, offshore execution, and technical coordination activities
* Oversee preparation of construction material lists and coordinate procurement requirements with project teams
* Resolve technical issues arising during offshore installation and support corrective action implementation
* Ensure coordination with fabrication and loadout contractors affecting project operations under supervision
* Liaise with fabrication hook-up teams and provide required marine support equipment and logistics coordination
* Develop scopes of work, support subcontract award processes, and coordinate subcontract execution
* Review vendor and subcontractor invoices for accuracy, completed work validation, and material supply verification
* Support tender activities and provide operational engineering input during bid preparation stages
* Ensure compliance with Level 2 procedures for wire rope applications, rigging, and lifting operations
* Manage fabrication coordination across engineering, SCM, design, fabrication, and hook-up teams
* Identify fabrication resource requirements and report project fabrication status to leadership
* Lead project fabrication execution strategy aligned with construction sequence and delivery schedules
* Monitor fabrication progress, productivity, and budget performance with project construction leadership
* Conduct HAZID meetings, fabrication readiness meetings, and fabrication kick-off meetings with all stakeholders
* Manage scope changes and ensure AFC estimates are updated according to revised project requirements
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Engineering discipline
* 5 to 7 years of experience in the Offshore Industry with strong fabrication and operations exposure
* Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience leading project teams or offshore operations personnel
* Strong understanding of offshore installation methods, fabrication processes, and marine operations
* Experience in fabrication planning, contractor coordination, and project execution management
* Working knowledge of engineering design and offshore EPC project delivery
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in high-pressure project environments
* Excellent communication skills for client coordination, vendor management, and cross-functional leadership
