Role Summary
Azizi Energy, part of Azizi Group, is seeking a Project Director to lead the execution of utility-scale power plant projects across Afghanistan and the region. Based in Dubai with extensive site travel, this role involves strategic leadership of large-scale solar, thermal, and hybrid energy developments. The Project Director will oversee planning, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover, ensuring projects meet quality, cost, and schedule objectives while maintaining safety and compliance in complex environments.

What You’ll Do
* Provide strategic direction for multiple utility-scale energy projects, from feasibility to commissioning.
* Oversee execution of solar, thermal, and hybrid power plant developments across regional sites.
* Act as senior representative with governments, EPC contractors, regulators, and investors.
* Negotiate approvals, permits, and agreements with local and international stakeholders.
* Manage budgets, schedules, milestones, and performance metrics for financial accountability.
* Ensure compliance with HSE standards, technical specifications, and quality benchmarks.
* Identify and mitigate project risks, providing strategic solutions to senior leadership.
* Prepare progress reports, KPI updates, and risk assessments for executive review.
* Lead and mentor multidisciplinary project teams, fostering accountability and collaboration.
* Oversee recruitment and training of site teams, promoting a strong safety-first culture.
Ideal Profile
* Master’s degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or Business Administration (Bachelor’s with extensive experience considered).
* PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification highly preferred.
* 15+ years of senior project management experience in power generation or construction, with 7+ years in utility-scale energy projects.
* Proven success in delivering complex energy infrastructure projects in emerging or post-conflict markets.
* Expertise in EPC contracts, project financing, HSE compliance, and risk management.
* Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
* Fluency in English; knowledge of Dari, Pashto, or other regional languages is advantageous.
* Willingness to travel extensively and work on-site in remote project locations.
