Role Context
The Radiation Protection Officer - RPO will oversee radiation safety practices for testing, inspection, and certification work carried out in oil and gas project environments. The role is essential for ensuring that radiographic testing activities are planned, controlled, monitored, and documented in line with approved safety procedures and regulatory expectations.
This position supports safe project execution by combining ASNT RT Level II knowledge, advanced radiation protection training, ADNOC WMS requirements, radiation dosimetry awareness, emergency planning, and compliance-focused field supervision.
Key Responsibilities
* Monitor radiation safety controls during radiographic testing and inspection-related work activities.
* Ensure all radiation work is performed in line with approved procedures, site requirements, regulatory standards, and ADNOC WMS expectations.
* Support radiation monitoring, controlled area setup, dosimetry checks, barricading, warning signage, and access control during field activities.
* Review work permits, job safety requirements, risk assessments, and method statements before radiation-related tasks begin.
* Coordinate with inspection teams, supervisors, safety personnel, and client representatives to maintain safe work execution.
* Verify that radiation safety equipment, monitoring devices, and related controls are available and suitable for use.
* Support emergency response planning for radiation-related incidents, abnormal readings, or unsafe site conditions.
* Carry out safety observations, compliance checks, and radiation protection audits as required.
* Maintain accurate records related to radiation monitoring, exposure control, permit conditions, safety checks, and compliance documentation.
* Guide site teams on radiation protection requirements and safe working practices.
* Report non-compliance, unsafe conditions, or procedural deviations immediately to the responsible authority.
* Promote disciplined safety behavior while supporting timely completion of inspection and project activities.
Ideal Profile
* Minimum HSC, 12th standard, or equivalent qualification with relevant certification.
* ASNT RT Level II certification is required.
* Advanced RPO training is required.
* ADNOC WMS full package knowledge is required.
* 5-8 years of relevant experience in radiation protection, radiographic testing support, oil and gas inspection, or industrial safety roles.
* Good communication skills with the ability to read, write, and speak English at least at intermediate level.
* Strong understanding of radiation safety regulations, radiation monitoring, radiation dosimetry, and exposure control practices.
* Practical knowledge of risk assessment, emergency response planning, regulatory compliance, and safety auditing.
* Ability to coordinate with safety, inspection, and project teams in a controlled industrial site environment.
* Strong attention to detail with a disciplined approach to permits, documentation, and safety procedures.
