Role Summary
The Rotating Equipment Maintenance Engineer will provide technical expertise in maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, overhaul, shutdown support, and reliability improvement for rotating equipment in Abu Dhabi’s Oil and Energy sector. The role focuses on ensuring high availability, reliability, integrity, and safe performance of critical plant production equipment through effective maintenance planning, technical support, risk assessment, root cause analysis, spare parts control, and compliance with ADNOC standards and international engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, overhaul, and modification activities for rotating equipment across the plant.
* Ensure rotating equipment maintenance activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in line with approved engineering standards.
* Review preventive maintenance plans and schedules for rotating equipment and prepare task lists and maintenance programs.
* Supervise execution of preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, breakdown repair, and shutdown maintenance programs.
* Provide technical guidance on chronic equipment problems and recommend corrective actions to improve equipment reliability.
* Review requirements for major repairs, overhauls, and spare parts replacement to ensure equipment integrity and performance.
* Participate in risk assessment exercises and prepare recommendations, controls, and mitigation actions.
* Ensure availability of required spare parts and coordinate follow-up for new material orders.
* Create proposals for stocking spare parts for new equipment and manage item change requests.
* Control spare parts inventory and support removal of obsolete or unwanted inventory from stock.
* Prepare new maintenance procedures, method statements, and technical work instructions for rotating equipment activities.
* Schedule long-term maintenance activities in line with plant shutdown plans and operational requirements.
* Plan and coordinate maintenance activities with other departments and sections to optimize manpower utilization.
* Support planning and control of major and minor shutdown activities, including related expenditure monitoring.
* Provide technical support for development, implementation, and commissioning of new projects involving rotating equipment.
* Review mechanical design specifications to optimize costs and ensure compliance with applicable standards and best practices.
* Prepare plant change requests and study proposed changes for safe and practical implementation.
* Develop implementation plans and schedules for approved plant change requests.
* Participate in HAZOP reviews and SIL validation meetings related to rotating equipment and plant systems.
* Conduct studies on frequent failures of major rotating equipment and provide practical reliability improvement recommendations.
* Participate in root cause analysis for incidents involving rotating equipment and provide findings, corrective actions, and technical recommendations.
* Plan, supervise, and coordinate activities in the assigned maintenance area to achieve functional objectives.
* Train and develop assigned staff to improve technical skills, maintenance capability, and job performance.
* Provide input for functional budgets and support implementation of approved budgets and work plans.
* Investigate and highlight significant budget or performance variances to support effective cost control.
* Implement approved policies, systems, processes, standards, and procedures in line with company and international standards.
* Contribute to approved performance objectives under the company performance framework.
* Design and implement tools and techniques to improve maintenance quality, reliability, and operational efficiency.
* Identify internal process improvements based on best industry practices and international maintenance standards.
* Ensure compliance with HSE procedures, safe working practices, and relevant company requirements.
* Maintain accurate records related to inspections, maintenance activities, failure analysis, repairs, spare parts, and technical recommendations.
Candidate Requirements
* Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent professional qualification.
* Minimum 8 years of experience in engineering and maintenance of rotating equipment within a large industrial organization.
* Previous oil and gas industry experience is preferred.
* Extensive experience in rotating equipment design, engineering, construction, maintenance, and operation.
* Strong knowledge of pumps, compressors, turbines, motors, gearboxes, fans, blowers, mechanical seals, couplings, and related rotating machinery.
* Familiarity with international design codes, engineering standards, maintenance practices, and rotating equipment reliability methods.
* Ability to prepare design, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and handover specification packages for rotating equipment.
* Experience reviewing preventive maintenance plans, shutdown schedules, major repair requirements, and overhaul plans.
* Strong knowledge of troubleshooting, root cause analysis, chronic failure investigation, risk assessment, HAZOP, and SIL validation.
* Familiarity with major rotating equipment manufacturers, including their capabilities, limitations, service models, and technical requirements.
* Proven ability to conduct technical and commercial negotiations with rotating equipment manufacturers, vendors, and service providers.
* Knowledge of HSE procedures, safe maintenance practices, and plant safety requirements.
* Strong planning, organizing, scheduling, coordination, checking, examining, and recording skills.
* Ability to coordinate with operations, maintenance, engineering, procurement, contractors, and project teams.
* Strong communication, reporting, problem-solving, supervision, and team development skills.
