Role Context
The RT Technician - Radiographic Testing will perform radiographic inspection activities for oil and gas assets, including piping systems, pipelines, weld joints, and industrial equipment. The role is important for identifying internal defects, supporting quality verification, and helping project teams maintain safe and compliant inspection standards.
This position supports reliable field execution by combining ASNT Level II RT knowledge, radiation safety awareness, image quality control, equipment operation, and accurate technical reporting.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform radiographic testing using X-ray and gamma ray methods on piping, pipelines, equipment, welds, and related oil and gas components.
* Follow approved radiographic testing procedures, project specifications, quality standards, and site safety requirements.
* Set up radiographic equipment, exposure arrangements, source positioning, and inspection areas according to work instructions.
* Support radiation safety controls including barricading, warning signage, controlled access, and safe work practices.
* Capture radiographic images with proper positioning, exposure quality, density, sensitivity, and technical clarity.
* Review film or image quality and coordinate with supervisors or interpreters for evaluation and reporting.
* Maintain inspection records, exposure details, job references, and technical documentation accurately.
* Check equipment condition, accessories, and readiness before assigned inspection activities.
* Communicate clearly with supervisors, safety personnel, NDT teams, and project representatives during field work.
* Follow permit requirements, risk controls, and emergency response instructions during radiographic testing operations.
* Identify worksite issues, unsafe conditions, or technical concerns and report them promptly.
* Complete assigned inspection tasks within project timelines while maintaining quality, safety, and professional discipline.
Ideal Profile
* Diploma, ITI, or relevant technical qualification.
* ASNT Level II certification in RT is required.
* 5-8 years of experience in radiographic testing, preferably in oil and gas inspection environments.
* Hands-on experience with X-ray and gamma ray testing methods.
* Practical experience inspecting piping, pipelines, welds, and industrial equipment.
* Strong understanding of radiation safety practices and controlled area requirements.
* Ability to operate radiographic testing equipment safely and accurately.
* Good attention to detail when supporting image quality, documentation, and reporting.
* Clear communication skills for coordination with inspection, safety, and project teams.
* Ability to work in field conditions and follow project deadlines.
