Role Context
The RTFI Technician will support non-destructive testing activities by interpreting radiographic films and ensuring inspection findings are accurate, properly documented, and aligned with project and client standards. This role is important in oil and gas inspection work because reliable film interpretation helps verify weld quality, detect discontinuities, and support safe project execution.
The technician will work closely with NDT teams, supervisors, quality personnel, and project stakeholders to maintain inspection reliability and timely reporting.
Core Duties
* Interpret radiographic films in accordance with approved standards, procedures, and client requirements.
* Support testing, inspection, and certification activities for oil and gas and industrial projects.
* Review film quality, sensitivity, density, image clarity, and acceptance criteria before reporting results.
* Identify weld defects, discontinuities, and relevant indications through accurate radiographic film interpretation.
* Prepare inspection findings, technical notes, and supporting documentation clearly and correctly.
* Coordinate with NDT technicians, supervisors, and quality teams for inspection workflow and reporting.
* Maintain proper records of inspected films, project references, reports, and related technical documents.
* Assist in troubleshooting technical issues related to inspection outputs and film interpretation quality.
* Follow safety, quality, and project procedures during assigned inspection activities.
* Support equipment calibration checks and diagnostic testing coordination where required.
* Communicate inspection findings professionally to responsible team members.
* Complete assigned work within project timelines while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
Ideal Profile
* Minimum intermediate or 12th standard education with relevant certification.
* PCN RTFI Level II certification is required.
* Minimum 2-3 years of post-certification experience in RTFI work.
* Experience in oil and gas, petroleum, power, testing, inspection, or certification environments is preferred.
* Good understanding of radiographic film interpretation methods and inspection acceptance criteria.
* Ability to read, review, and document technical inspection results accurately.
* Familiarity with diagnostic testing, equipment calibration, and inspection reporting practices.
* Strong attention to detail with a quality-focused approach.
* Good communication skills for coordination with inspection and project teams.
* Ability to work under deadlines in a structured industrial site environment.
