Role Context
The Senior Civil Structural Designer supports engineering execution by converting technical inputs, project requirements, and discipline data into accurate layouts, detailed drawings, and coordinated 3D models. The role helps improve constructability, drawing clarity, interface control, and design quality by working closely with civil engineers, structural engineers, designers, and other discipline teams. Through careful checking, model coordination, and compliance with project standards, this position directly supports safer fabrication, smoother construction, and better-quality engineering deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare civil and structural arrangement drawings, detail design drawings, layouts, and drafting deliverables with strong technical quality and consistent presentation.
* Develop drawings that are clear, practical, construction-focused, and easy for fabrication or site teams to interpret.
* Build and maintain 3D models in line with project requirements, engineering inputs, and discipline coordination needs.
* Ensure civil and structural design work complies with company requirements, project QA and QC systems, and approved procedures.
* Apply technical design skills to complete assigned drafting, modeling, checking, and layout work accurately.
* Organize personal design activities and manage assigned time to meet deadlines set by project leads or senior team members.
* Review project scope of work, specifications, schedules, and inter-discipline requirements to understand assigned deliverables.
* Identify design concerns, missing inputs, interface issues, or constructability risks early and raise them for resolution.
* Prepare civil and structural layouts using data generated by engineers and other discipline teams.
* Work closely with civil engineers, structural engineers, designers, senior designers, and other discipline counterparts.
* Ensure design output follows client requirements, statutory design codes, industry standards, procedures, and health and safety policies.
* Develop clash-free 3D models by coordinating with other disciplines and checking interface requirements.
* Review own designs with focus on accuracy, discipline interfaces, constructability, and compliance with project standards.
* Provide drafting support for project teams when required.
* Review drawings prepared by other disciplines to identify interface requirements or potential conflicts.
* Review supplier drawings and support design coordination where vendor information affects civil or structural layouts.
* Assist less experienced designers by sharing practical drafting, modeling, and project procedure knowledge.
* Support handover activities when work is transferred between teams, departments, construction sites, or fabrication yards.
* Learn and apply future working methods, software applications, design systems, and project-specific tools as required.
Ideal Profile
* High school graduate with a diploma in Civil, Structural, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
* Minimum 5 years of experience with a major contractor, consultant, EPC company, engineering office, or oil and gas project environment.
* Experience preparing civil and structural drawings, layouts, details, 3D models, and construction-oriented design deliverables.
* Knowledge of associated industry detailing standards and design presentation practices.
* Working knowledge of 2D and 3D drafting systems such as AutoCAD and MicroStation.
* Knowledge of E3D and S3D is preferred.
* Experience with AutoCAD, AutoLISP programming, 3D modeling, 2D drafting menus, macro compilation, or similar drafting automation tools is an advantage.
* Familiarity with codes, standards, project procedures, and discipline design requirements.
* Ability to review drawings, identify interface issues, and support clash-free design development.
* Good working knowledge of English, both written and spoken.
* HSE, TQM, and cost-conscious approach to design work and project execution.
* Eager to learn new tools, project methods, software applications, and design workflows.
