Role Context
The Senior Commissioning Engineer is responsible for driving safe and efficient commissioning, pre-commissioning, and start-up activities across major industrial and energy projects. This role ensures systems are fully tested, verified, and ready for operation before final project handover. The position supports construction completion, operational readiness, and long-term plant reliability while working closely with multidisciplinary project teams and clients.
Key Responsibilities
* Report to the Commissioning Manager and support the Principal Commissioning Engineer with home office deliverables and execution planning
* Participate in site walk-down inspections, punch listing, and verification of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems
* Prepare and review commissioning procedures, start-up plans, and performance testing documentation
* Support the development of operation and maintenance manuals for final project handover
* Manage commissioning and start-up spares, first fills, and consumables planning
* Perform discipline equipment system checks, inspections, and function testing activities
* Participate in commissioning, start-up, and performance testing for plant and facility systems
* Troubleshoot operational and maintenance issues during commissioning and plant start-up phases
* Coordinate closely with project engineers, discipline leads, construction teams, and client representatives
* Supervise commissioning engineers, specialists, and craft personnel involved in pre-commissioning and commissioning work
* Ensure activities are completed according to project standards, safety procedures, and operational requirements
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering
* 8 to 15 years of experience in oil and gas projects with major contractors or consultants
* Strong background in commissioning, completions, and start-up activities for refinery, chemical, or oil and gas facilities
* Minimum 5 years of practical experience in refinery, processing plant, or industrial commissioning environments
* Previous commissioning and start-up experience in large-scale EPC projects is highly preferred
* Strong understanding of construction, operations, maintenance, and commissioning interfaces
* Ability to explain technical solutions clearly to engineers, operators, and project stakeholders
* Willingness to travel internationally to project and construction sites as required
