Role Context
The Senior EI Inspector - Electrical Systems will support construction, inspection, testing, and quality verification activities for electrical and instrumentation systems across oil and gas and petrochemical projects. The role is important for confirming that high-voltage and low-voltage systems are installed, inspected, documented, and tested according to project requirements and industry standards.
This position contributes to safe and reliable project execution by combining electrical inspection expertise, construction quality control, risk assessment, technical documentation, FAT and SAT awareness, and strong understanding of standards such as ASME, AWS, API, DNV, ISO, and BS.
Key Responsibilities
* Inspect electrical and instrumentation works for new construction and brownfield modification projects in oil and gas and petrochemical environments.
* Review installation activities for 33 KV, 11 kV, 3.3 kV, and 415 V electric power distribution systems.
* Inspect switchgear, control gear, distribution boards, UPS systems, earthing, lighting, underground cabling, cathodic protection, and small power distribution systems.
* Verify that electrical and instrumentation work follows approved drawings, specifications, method statements, inspection test plans, and project quality procedures.
* Support FAT and SAT activities by reviewing test requirements, documentation, equipment readiness, and compliance records.
* Apply code compliance, regulatory knowledge, risk assessment, and health and safety standards during inspection work.
* Identify installation defects, technical deviations, safety concerns, documentation gaps, and non-compliance items.
* Prepare inspection reports, quality observations, punch lists, technical records, and corrective action recommendations.
* Coordinate with contractors, QA-QC teams, engineering teams, safety personnel, and client representatives.
* Review technical documentation, CAD drawings, inspection checklists, and project records for accuracy and completeness.
* Support problem-solving during site inspection activities and assist in resolving construction or testing issues.
* Maintain strong inspection discipline while ensuring project timelines, safety rules, and quality expectations are met.
Ideal Profile
* Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a closely related discipline.
* 15-16 years of experience in oil and gas and petrochemical industries.
* Strong background as an inspector in new construction and brownfield modification projects.
* Practical inspection experience with 33 KV, 11 kV, 3.3 kV, and 415 V electrical power distribution systems.
* Good knowledge of switchgear, control gear, distribution boards, UPS, earthing, lighting, underground cabling, cathodic protection, and small power systems.
* Familiarity with ASME, AWS, API, DNV, ISO, BS, and related industrial standards.
* FAT and SAT experience is required or strongly preferred.
* CompEx or ATEX knowledge is preferred for hazardous area inspection environments.
* Strong understanding of inspection techniques, code compliance, risk assessment, quality assurance, and health safety standards.
* Ability to read CAD drawings, technical documentation, project specifications, and inspection records.
* Strong communication skills for coordination with site teams, contractors, clients, and QA-QC departments.
