Role Context
The Senior EI Inspector - Electrical Systems will support inspection, quality verification, and technical compliance activities for electrical and instrumentation works in oil and gas and petrochemical project environments. The role is essential for confirming that power distribution systems, control equipment, cabling, earthing, lighting, and related installations are completed safely, correctly, and in line with approved construction and inspection requirements.
This position contributes to reliable project delivery by combining engineering inspection expertise, blueprint reading, construction standards knowledge, FAT and SAT awareness, risk assessment, technical documentation, and disciplined site coordination.
Key Responsibilities
* Inspect electrical and instrumentation installations for oil and gas and petrochemical construction projects.
* Review site work related to 33 KV, 11 kV, 3.3 kV, and 415 V electric power distribution systems.
* Inspect switchgear, control gear, distribution boards, UPS systems, earthing, lighting, underground cabling, cathodic protection, and small power distribution systems.
* Verify that electrical works follow approved drawings, specifications, method statements, inspection test plans, and quality control procedures.
* Support inspection activities for new construction projects and brownfield modifications to existing electrical systems.
* Review FAT and SAT documentation, test results, equipment readiness, and compliance records.
* Apply ASME, AWS, API, DNV, ISO, BS, and project-specific requirements during inspection and quality checks.
* Identify installation defects, safety risks, technical deviations, documentation gaps, and non-compliance items.
* Prepare inspection reports, site observations, punch lists, corrective action notes, and quality records.
* Coordinate with contractors, QA-QC teams, engineering departments, safety personnel, project managers, and client representatives.
* Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, construction documents, and inspection records.
* Support project management and risk assessment activities by highlighting critical inspection issues and pending actions.
* Maintain strong documentation accuracy, regulatory compliance, and site inspection discipline throughout assigned work.
Ideal Profile
* Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant electrical discipline.
* 15-16 years of experience in oil and gas and petrochemical industries.
* Strong experience as an inspector in new construction and brownfield modification projects.
* Practical knowledge of 33 KV, 11 kV, 3.3 kV, and 415 V electrical power distribution systems.
* Experience with switchgear, control gear, distribution boards, UPS, earthing, lighting, underground cabling, cathodic protection, and small power distribution systems.
* Familiarity with ASME, AWS, API, DNV, ISO, BS, and relevant construction and inspection standards.
* FAT and SAT experience is required or strongly preferred.
* CompEx or ATEX knowledge is preferred for hazardous area environments.
* Strong understanding of engineering inspection, quality control, construction standards, safety regulations, and regulatory compliance.
* Ability to read blueprints, review technical documentation, and prepare accurate inspection reports.
* Good communication skills for coordination with site teams, contractors, clients, and QA-QC departments.
