Key Responsibilities
The role provides engineering direction for electrical maintenance across production facilities, power systems and the plant distribution network.
* Plan and implement predictive maintenance and Reliability Centered Maintenance programs for electrical equipment.
* Use condition-monitoring results to identify deterioration and improve machine availability.
* Evaluate power system performance and recommend measures that strengthen electrical reliability.
* Conduct internal safety audits of plant electrical installations and equipment.
* Document audit findings and develop corrective action plans for area maintenance engineers.
* Participate in the preparation of predictive, preventive, modification and major shutdown maintenance programs.
* Review periodic maintenance plans and shutdown work scopes before execution.
* Integrate electrical work with mechanical, instrumentation, operations and other plant activities.
* Monitor maintenance progress and address technical or scheduling issues that could delay completion.
* Provide professional input into the replacement or technological upgrading of obsolete equipment.
* Prepare and execute Plant Change Requests covering modifications to existing electrical systems and facilities.
* Complete detailed engineering for Capital, Extra Ordinary Maintenance and Major Maintenance activities.
* Develop technical scopes of work, specifications and execution requirements for approved maintenance projects.
* Review equipment history, failure trends and operating data to improve maintenance strategies.
* Assess existing maintenance practices and introduce modern methods that improve productivity and equipment performance.
* Promote effective use of the maintenance management system for work planning, equipment records and job-history control.
* Verify the quality and completeness of maintenance data so reliable information remains available for technical analysis.
* Supervise High Voltage switching activities according to approved procedures and authorization requirements.
* Confirm that electrical isolations, switching sequences and safety precautions are correctly applied.
* Prepare method statements for critical electrical maintenance and switching activities.
* Review electrical procedures and work instructions to ensure technical accuracy and operational suitability.
* Prepare scopes of work for contract jobs and service work orders.
* Ensure that contractor activities comply with plant standards, HSE requirements and approved working methods.
* Participate in technical bid evaluations and assess proposed solutions against operational requirements.
* Inspect received electrical materials and equipment to verify specifications, condition and quality.
* Resolve technical discrepancies involving delivered materials before installation or use.
* Provide electrical engineering support during the development and implementation of new plant projects.
* Review electrical designs, equipment specifications and project documentation for technical compliance.
* Recommend cost-effective solutions that preserve safety, maintainability and long-term asset performance.
* Support equipment installation, testing, energization and commissioning activities.
* Verify that new or modified systems comply with applicable codes, engineering standards and industry practices.
* Investigate recurring electrical failures and recommend corrective measures that prevent repeat incidents.
* Coordinate technical priorities with operations and maintenance teams to minimize disruption to production.
* Maintain accurate engineering records for equipment changes, completed maintenance and reliability improvements.
