Key Responsibilities
The role provides technical direction for instrument and control maintenance across operating facilities, planned shutdowns and engineering modifications.
* Supervise the installation, inspection, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting and modification of plant instrument and control equipment.
* Ensure that maintenance activities are executed safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved engineering practices.
* Review preventive maintenance plans and develop task lists, work programmes and execution schedules for critical systems.
* Monitor the completion and effectiveness of planned maintenance activities, addressing delays or technical shortcomings.
* Diagnose equipment problems and conduct root cause failure analysis to determine why faults or repeated downtime occur.
* Recommend corrective and preventive measures based on technical evidence, operating history and equipment condition.
* Perform residual-life assessments for critical instrument and control assets and identify requirements for repair, refurbishment or replacement.
* Investigate chronic equipment problems and provide practical guidance on sustainable technical solutions.
* Review requirements for major repairs and spare replacement to maintain compliance with recognized engineering standards.
* Participate in operational and maintenance risk assessments and prepare recommendations addressing identified hazards.
