* Manage assigned work priorities to meet agreed deadlines, budgets, and short-term engineering activity plans.
* Focus on completing mechanical engineering deliverables within approved workhour and budget targets.
* Lead or delegate discipline project team activities when required by project needs.
* Communicate complex engineering issues clearly and help stakeholders understand technical decisions, risks, and solutions.
* Review project scope of work, specifications, schedules, and inter-discipline requirements to identify concerns early.
* Take practical initiatives to address design gaps, missing information, interface issues, or execution risks.
* Identify scope changes and promptly raise change notifications with supporting documentation and estimates.
* Support variation orders by preparing technical input, workhour estimates, and related engineering justification.
* Interface with all disciplines to support clash-free design development and smooth project execution.
* Coordinate with other departments to obtain inputs required for mechanical designs, drawings, and project deliverables.
* Maintain close coordination with engineering disciplines, planning, fabrication, marine, procurement, safety, and project management teams.
* Document substantive communications that lead to important decisions, technical actions, or assigned responsibilities.
* Assist with bid proposal estimates, including technical query reviews, execution statements, workhour estimates, and discipline inputs.
* Raise technical queries to clarify work scope, obtain missing data, and align with client procedures, specifications, standards, practices, and operational requirements.
* Prepare mechanical engineering design basis documents, philosophies, and technical specifications when required.
* Participate in finalizing deliverables lists and verify compliance with specifications and functional integrity requirements.
* Attend project review meetings, vendor meetings, engineering coordination meetings, and offshore site surveys when required.
* Provide technical direction and review support to designers producing mechanical engineering deliverables.
* Prepare and review mechanical design reports, procedures, calculations, and technical documents.
* Provide design inputs to other disciplines to help them progress their own deliverables without delay.
* Support procurement teams in purchasing mechanical equipment, materials, and services aligned with customer objectives and procedures.
* Prepare and review requisitions, evaluate technical quotations, prepare technical queries, compile bid tabulations, and support purchase requisitions.
* Coordinate with procurement teams to expedite vendor documents when directed by the Discipline Lead Engineer.
* Assist with weight report updates based on vendor information and equipment data.
* Check engineering work prepared by others within the mechanical discipline.
* Review vendor and subcontractor submittals for compliance with project specifications and provide clear technical comments.
* Perform design verification through single-discipline checks and inter-discipline checks.
* Provide technical support for fabrication queries, including defect assessment, rectification requirements, and practical engineering solutions.
* Keep the Lead Engineer informed of technical, budgetary, schedule, manpower, and project execution concerns.
* Support construction teams from the office or site when required.
* Recommend improvements to mechanical engineering work processes, design quality, and project execution methods.
