The Senior Mechanical Inspector - Rotating Equipment will support inspection, quality verification, and technical review activities for mechanical systems used in oil and gas field projects. The role is important for ensuring that equipment, materials, welds, and mechanical installations meet project requirements before acceptance, commissioning, or continued operation.
This position contributes to safe and dependable project delivery by combining mechanical inspection expertise, rotating equipment knowledge, blueprint reading, NDT awareness, code compliance, material testing, metrology, and accurate technical reporting.
Key Responsibilities
* Inspect rotating equipment and mechanical systems used in oil and gas field projects.
* Review pumps, turbines, compressors, engines, mechanical components, and related equipment for compliance with project requirements.
* Conduct inspection activities using approved procedures, technical specifications, drawings, and quality control standards.
* Interpret AutoCAD drawings, blueprints, mechanical layouts, inspection plans, and equipment documentation.
* Support weld inspection, material verification, metrology checks, and mechanical quality assessments.
* Apply relevant standards such as ASME, API, ASTM, BS, ISO, and other project-specific requirements during inspection work.
* Identify mechanical defects, installation issues, material concerns, dimensional deviations, and non-compliance items.
* Prepare inspection reports, quality observations, punch lists, corrective action notes, and technical documentation.
* Coordinate with QA-QC teams, engineering departments, contractors, supervisors, and client representatives.
* Support NDT-related inspection activities and review results where required for quality verification.
* Check equipment operation readiness, inspection records, test reports, and supporting project documents.
* Maintain strong attention to safety, quality, documentation accuracy, and timely completion of assigned inspection tasks.
Ideal Profile
* Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering.
* 10-12 years of experience in oil and gas field projects.
* Strong experience in mechanical inspection activities related to rotating equipment and machinery.
* Practical exposure to pumps, turbines, compressors, engines, and industrial mechanical systems.
* Working knowledge of ASME, API, ASTM, BS, ISO, and relevant mechanical inspection standards.
* CSWIP 3.1 certification is preferred.
* ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, API 510, API 570, or API 653 certifications are an advantage.
* Good understanding of AutoCAD drawings, blueprint reading, code compliance, and inspection procedures.
* Knowledge of NDT techniques, weld inspection, metrology, material testing, and quality control practices.
* Ability to prepare accurate reports and communicate inspection findings clearly.
* Strong problem-solving ability with a disciplined approach to safety, quality, and documentation.
