Role Context
The Senior Piping Designer supports project success by delivering accurate piping layouts and 3D models that improve constructability, fabrication readiness, and operational efficiency. This role ensures piping systems are properly coordinated with all disciplines, reducing clashes and delays while maintaining compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and engineering best practices.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop 3D models and ensure clash-free coordination with all engineering disciplines and project requirements
* Perform piping design and engineering for process facilities during Pre-FEED, FEED, and Detailed Design phases
* Prepare plant layouts, piping drawings, and design deliverables while considering safety, maintenance, constructability, and operational efficiency
* Complete design assignments efficiently with limited supervision while supporting the work activities of other team members
* Organize work priorities and manage time effectively to meet project schedules and deliverable deadlines
* Lead design teams when acting as Lead Designer or Area Lead to complete work within planned budgets and schedules
* Act as the discipline point of contact for project teams, clients, vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors
* Coordinate discipline interfaces and ensure inter-disciplinary requirements are fully addressed
* Support Lead Piping Engineer in measuring progress, productivity, and piping deliverable performance
* Manage 3D model reviews and ensure review comments are resolved and properly closed
* Develop plant design drawings and contribute to plant layout narratives according to project scope and schedule
* Assist in preparing technical queries, piping estimates, and job scope change documentation
* Attend project kickoff meetings, review meetings, and vendor coordination sessions
* Support remote team coordination and multi-office project execution when required
* Identify scope changes early and raise change notifications through the management system
* Ensure compliance with client standards, statutory codes, and company health and safety procedures
Ideal Profile
* Strong experience in piping design for oil and gas, refinery, petrochemical, or industrial process plant projects
* Proven expertise in plant layout development and 3D modeling for EPC environments
* Good understanding of constructability, piping design standards, and operational requirements
* Experience working across Pre-FEED, FEED, and Detailed Design project stages
* Ability to coordinate design teams and support multi-discipline engineering execution
* Strong problem-solving ability with confidence in handling atypical design challenges
* Experience with remote team coordination and MOPEX environments is highly valued
* Excellent communication and planning skills for technical discussions and project coordination
