Role Context

The Senior Plant Operator - Control Room will support safe and efficient plant operations by monitoring control panels, supervising routine checks, controlling process parameters, managing product quality, authorizing work permits, preparing equipment for maintenance, and coordinating with plant teams during start-ups, shutdowns, emergencies, and shift handovers. The position requires strong knowledge of standard operating procedures, integrated control systems, HSE requirements, process adjustments, chemical dosing, emergency response, and field coordination in a large oil and gas operating environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Operate, monitor, and control assigned plant units to process, store, and export products according to required specifications and quantities.
* Operate control panels to ensure safe plant function, stable process conditions, product quality, and compliance with operating limits.
* Carry out assigned operational work safely and in line with standard operating procedures.
* Log operating incidents and discuss them with the Supervisor to support efficient running of operating units.
* Supervise and carry out routine equipment checks to identify abnormalities, defects, unsafe conditions, or maintenance requirements.
* Arrange servicing and repair support by reporting abnormalities and coordinating with relevant supervisors and maintenance teams.
* Prepare and review plant equipment for maintenance to ensure accurate isolation, safe work readiness, and proper synchronization with connected systems.
* Operate related machinery and equipment safely and efficiently according to company standards and instructions.
* Authorize work permits, follow up ongoing jobs, and monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures.
* Carry out duties as Auxiliary Fireman or Site Safety Officer during emergencies when required under the Facility Response Plan.
* Ensure full utilization of integrated control system capabilities to improve plant efficiency, product quality, operational safety, and process visibility.
* Supervise and perform adjustments to speeds, temperatures, pressures, flow rates, and other process parameters during normal operations, start-ups, shutdowns, and emergencies.
* Monitor control panels continuously, diagnose abnormal situations, initiate operational adjustments, and maintain stable plant performance.
* Take readings from essential instruments to ensure equipment operates within specified parameters, operating envelopes, and safe limits.
* Confirm that chemicals used in the assigned area are correct and suitable for the required process.
* Add chemicals, prepare solutions, and adjust dosing rates according to procedures, process requirements, and HSE rules.
* Operate, monitor, and control the assigned work area safely and efficiently to achieve target plant yield without hydrocarbon loss and within emission limits.
* Ensure effective shift handover by communicating operating conditions, plant status, abnormal events, pending work, and safety concerns.
* Complete integrity functional tests, changeover routines, and scheduled verification tasks efficiently.
* Maintain accurate records and documents for integrity checks, operating activities, chemical use, and verification tasks.
* Control and contain plant upsets to prevent minor emergencies from escalating into major events.
* Maintain clear communication and coordination with other departments, plant units, company sites, and neighboring plants during operational events.
* Implement and comply with functional policies, systems, processes, standards, and procedures to achieve operational objectives.
* Provide on-the-job training to support competency-based training programs for UAE Nationalization.
* Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in operating procedures, functional processes, plant efficiency, and control room practices.
* Comply with HSE policies, procedures, controls, applicable legislation, sustainability guidelines, and ADNOC Code of Practices.
* Participate in emergency response duties as a team member when required.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment before and during operations in line with hygiene and housekeeping standards.
* Provide inputs for section progress reports and management updates.
* Prepare key performance indicator checklists for management review.
* Coordinate with line managers, peers, company employees, consultants, third-party service providers, government agencies, and other stakeholders when required.

Ideal Profile

* Technical Diploma in a relevant field or Secondary School Certificate with a vocational trade certificate in a relevant field.
* Minimum 6 years of experience in plant operations within a large industrial plant in the Oil and Energy sector.
* Strong practical knowledge of process plant operations, control panel monitoring, integrated control systems, start-up operations, shutdown operations, and emergency handling.
* Experience operating assigned plant units to meet production, storage, export, product quality, and quantity requirements.
* Good understanding of standard operating procedures, permit authorization, contractor monitoring, equipment preparation, and safe work practices.
* Ability to monitor plant parameters, diagnose abnormal operating conditions, and initiate safe operational adjustments.
* Knowledge of process variables including speeds, temperatures, pressures, flow rates, levels, emissions, and product specifications.
* Familiarity with chemical handling, solution preparation, chemical dosing, and chemical use verification in process operations.
* Strong HSE awareness with the ability to support emergency response, Auxiliary Fireman duties, or Site Safety Officer responsibilities when required.
* Able to complete integrity functional tests, changeover routines, scheduled verification tasks, and operating records accurately.
* Good communication skills for effective shift handover, supervisor updates, contractor coordination, and cross-unit communication.
* Comfortable working in air-conditioned environments with occasional exposure to heat, humidity, dust, and site conditions.
* Reliable, disciplined, safety-focused, and able to support continuous plant operations in a structured oil and gas environment.
