Job Purpose

As the Senior Engineer in Process Automation, you will be the technical authority responsible for managing the day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of multiple automation projects. Your expertise will ensure that we deliver projects on time and within budget while adhering to the highest engineering standards and safety protocols. You will play a crucial role in continuously developing and implementing new processes, analyzing data, and identifying opportunities for business process improvements.

Key Accountabilities

Project Management

- Coordinate and execute strategic capital expenditure (Capex) projects focused on upgrades and process optimization to align with Borouge and ADNOC goals.
- Monitor project budgets and expenditures, implementing cost-control strategies to ensure financial compliance and project profitability.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance plant productivity, efficiency, and safety.
- Present technical findings and project insights to senior management, supporting informed strategic decision-making.
- Lead the development of functional and strategic projects at all stages, collaborating with stakeholders to achieve business objectives.

- Engage and coordinate communication with project teams, steering committees, and internal/external parties to ensure timely information sharing.
- Control expenditures against the approved functional budget, investigating and reconciling significant variances for effective performance.
- Oversee project completion and milestone achievement, ensuring desired outputs and performance by the project team.
- Monitor project progression to meet plans and outputs while ensuring governance with relevant processes and stakeholders.
- Address system constraints by coordinating with partners to ensure smooth operations and prompt issue resolution.

Project Coordination

- Monitor the work of external contractors to ensure adherence to Borouge\'s specifications and support project success.
- Liaise with manufacturers\' representatives for safety system modifications, ensuring compliance with Borouge\'s standards.
- Administer software contracts with OEMs/vendors to secure timely support for all systems, ensuring operational continuity.
- Address technical issues with vendors and implement recommended solutions to support Borouge\'s maintenance strategy.
- Collaborate with other engineers to solve technical problems and facilitate knowledge sharing, enhancing team efficiency.
- Review control philosophy for change requests and perform function tests of ESD and DCS applications to ensure operational reliability.

Technical Advisor (Control & Automation)

- Serve as the technical advisor for Control & Automation System Design, providing guidance to various Asset Teams within Projects and Technical Support.
- Review and update procedures as required to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Perform technical screening of e-MOCs to assess and rank improvement proposals, aiding informed decision-making.
- Coordinate Instrument & Control System-related affairs with ADNOC Group Companies to ensure consistency and collaboration.
- Develop and maintain codes of practice to promote best practices and ensure compliance with standards.
- Supervise installation and commissioning of new projects related to control and automation for successful implementation.
- Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis on equipment failures to identify corrective actions and ensure reliability.

Reliability Support

- Oversee reliability indices, identify gaps, and provide solutions to enhance system reliability in line with Borouge\'s maintenance strategy.
- Prepare purchase requisitions for timely procurement of necessary materials to support operational needs.
- Analyze tasks to identify potential loss and safety hazards, mitigating risks to uphold Borouge\'s safety standards.
- Perform reliability studies to ensure optimal equipment availability, maximizing uptime and efficiency.
- Conduct centralized failure data and root cause analyses to suggest solutions and prevent recurrence, supporting continuous improvement.
- Provide 24/7 telephone and on-call assistance on a rotational basis to ensure support availability.

Maintenance Execution

- Analyze current approaches and develop new solutions to enhance reliability standards and drive improvement.
- Propose business process improvements to reduce risk and enhance safety standards, ensuring operational excellence.
- Follow operational philosophy and strategy to run systems efficiently and economically, promoting cost-effectiveness.
