Role Context
The Superintendent Piping takes direct responsibility for field execution of piping construction within assigned project areas. The role ensures labor, materials, scaffolding, equipment, tools, subcontractors, and construction sequences are coordinated against the approved schedule while maintaining strict safety, quality, and cost controls.
A key business impact of this position is maintaining predictable site productivity while protecting project milestones. The superintendent works closely with supervisors, foremen, field engineering, project controls, completions, quality, HSE, material management, and project leadership to identify constraints early and keep piping installation and testing activities moving toward mechanical completion and handover.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, organize, and direct piping construction labor, materials, scaffolding, tools, supplies, and construction equipment required for the assigned work scope.
* Ensure piping installation activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, project procedures, quality standards, schedule requirements, and budget controls.
* Lead site safety expectations and make safe working practices an integral part of every construction activity.
* Review production schedules and estimate labor-hour requirements necessary to complete planned piping work.
* Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractor activities against project milestones and detailed construction schedules.
* Monitor installation productivity and recommend changes to working methods, equipment utilization, or field conditions where improvements can increase efficiency.
* Analyze construction problems and support supervisors and foremen in developing practical corrective actions.
* Oversee large bore piping installation and related construction activities throughout assigned project areas.
* Direct pipe and valve testing activities and coordinate successful handover to completions teams.
* Verify that pressure testing activities are properly planned, executed, documented, and closed out.
* Coordinate sequencing of fabrication, installation, testing, inspection, reinstatement, and system handover activities.
* Ensure the project material management plan is followed and that piping materials are available when required by the construction schedule.
* Monitor field scope against project plans and use available reports to identify constraints, delays, or execution risks.
* Maintain daily awareness of project costs and productivity and initiate corrective measures where performance begins to deviate from plan.
* Complete daily construction reports accurately and within required reporting deadlines.
* Conduct ongoing risk reviews with project leadership and ensure identified actions are documented and addressed promptly.
* Support development and maintenance of detailed schedules for assigned piping areas.
* Confirm that changes to activity sequencing, manpower requirements, or field execution plans are properly incorporated and communicated.
* Understand and apply project change management processes when scope or execution requirements change.
* Ensure installed piping work meets or exceeds the requirements of the approved quality management plan.
* Coordinate inspection, testing, documentation, and acceptance activities with Quality and Completions personnel.
* Work with field engineering teams to resolve construction issues affecting piping installation.
* Maintain effective coordination with other construction disciplines to prevent interface conflicts and productivity losses.
* Approve or recommend appropriate personnel actions within assigned authority, including transfers, promotions, disciplinary measures, and workforce adjustments.
* Coordinate with other supervisors and superintendents to align shared resources, access requirements, equipment, and construction priorities.
* Promote compliance with company HSE programs across employees, subcontractors, and site activities.

* Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in construction or piping execution.
* Extensive hands-on experience with large bore piping installation.
* Strong background in piping pressure testing and system handover to completions.
* Detailed understanding of piping installation planning, execution sequencing, and field supervision.
* Knowledge of field engineering, construction technologies, job-site management, and multidisciplinary construction operations.
