Position Overview

ADNOC Group is hiring a Technician - Instrument and Control in Abu Dhabi Emirate, United Arab Emirates, for a maintenance opportunity within the Oil and Energy industry. The position will inspect, calibrate, test and repair plant instrumentation, process monitoring systems and protective control equipment using approved maintenance procedures.

The successful candidate will support reliable plant operation by completing preventive and corrective maintenance, responding to equipment failures and identifying developing instrument problems before they cause production disruption. The work also includes control loop modifications, shutdown maintenance and the installation or retrofitting of new instruments.

Role Context

The Technician - Instrument and Control maintains the accuracy, availability and protective performance of instrumentation used throughout the plant. Reliable measurement and control of pressure, temperature, flow, level and other process conditions are essential for stable production and safe equipment operation.

This role combines scheduled field maintenance with rapid fault response. Accurate calibration, disciplined testing and early identification of deteriorating components help prevent false readings, control instability, emergency shutdowns and unplanned plant trips.

Key Responsibilities

The technician will perform practical maintenance activities across field instruments, control panels, protective devices and related plant systems.

* Carry out routine, preventive and corrective maintenance according to Standard Operating Procedures, technical guidelines and approved work orders.
* Inspect, repair, calibrate and function-test process control instruments and monitoring equipment.
* Troubleshoot instrument faults, control loop problems and relay logic failures to restore reliable operation.
* Perform emergency maintenance when equipment defects threaten plant availability or production continuity.
* Complete assigned preventive maintenance activities within the required schedule and record accurate results.
* Participate in planned plant shutdowns and finish assigned maintenance work within approved timelines.
* Verify completed repairs and testing to confirm that equipment performs according to operational requirements.
* Complete maintenance activity sheets, inspection records and equipment history documentation.
* Conduct field inspections and remain alert to abnormal readings, damaged components or developing equipment problems.
* Report identified defects promptly and provide clear technical information to the responsible supervisor.
* Test instrument signals, switches, transmitters, indicators, controllers and protective devices.
* Support maintenance during scheduled and unscheduled machinery shutdowns to reduce the risk of unforeseen trips.
* Perform authorized modifications to control elements and control loops under approved plant change requests.
* Assist in updating plant drawings and technical records so they accurately reflect completed field modifications.
* Follow management of change procedures when altering instrumentation, control wiring or loop configurations.
* Install and retrofit new control instruments into existing field panels and main control room systems.
* Support testing, commissioning and final verification of modified or newly installed equipment.
* Confirm that replacement instruments meet the required range, accuracy, compatibility and operating specifications.
* Coordinate with operations and other maintenance disciplines when isolating, testing or returning equipment to service.
* Maintain tools, test equipment and calibration devices in serviceable condition.
* Follow permit-to-work requirements, equipment isolation procedures and all applicable HSE controls.
* Maintain orderly work areas and ensure removed components, cables and materials are handled safely.
* Contribute practical observations that improve equipment reliability and maintenance effectiveness.

Ideal Profile

This opportunity is suited to a technically capable instrument technician who can work methodically around operating plant equipment. The preferred candidate will understand how instrumentation faults can affect process stability, equipment protection and production availability.

Candidates should have:

* Technical Diploma in a relevant discipline or a Secondary School Certificate supported by a vocational trade certificate.
* At least four years of relevant instrumentation and control maintenance experience.
* Practical knowledge of process measurement and industrial control equipment.
* Experience performing calibration, testing, troubleshooting and instrument repair.
* Ability to interpret instrument drawings, loop diagrams, wiring details and maintenance instructions.
* Familiarity with preventive maintenance schedules, work orders and activity records.
* Experience supporting plant shutdowns, emergency repairs and equipment modifications.
* Understanding of relay logic, control loops and protective instrumentation.
* Ability to recognize developing faults and report technical findings accurately.
* Relevant professional certification where required for the assigned work.
