Position Overview
ADNOC Group is hiring a Technician - Instrument and Control in Abu Dhabi Emirate, United Arab Emirates, for a technical maintenance opportunity within the Oil and Energy industry. The role will maintain plant instrumentation, process monitoring devices, control systems and protective equipment through preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, calibration and functional testing.
This position requires practical experience with industrial control instruments and the ability to complete repairs during normal plant operations and scheduled or unplanned shutdowns. Role Context
Accurate instrumentation allows plant teams to monitor operating conditions, control production processes and protect critical equipment from unsafe situations. The Technician - Instrument and Control ensures that these systems provide dependable measurements and respond correctly when operating parameters change.
Consistent calibration, effective troubleshooting and timely preventive maintenance reduce false readings, unstable control performance and unexpected shutdowns. The technician\'s work therefore contributes directly to process safety, production continuity and the long-term reliability of plant assets.
Key Responsibilities
The position covers field instrumentation, control components, protective devices and associated maintenance records.
* Perform routine, preventive and corrective maintenance according to approved work orders, technical standards and Standard Operating Procedures.
* Inspect, repair, calibrate and test instruments used for process monitoring and control.
* Troubleshoot process instrument faults, relay logic problems and control loop abnormalities.
* Respond to emergency maintenance requirements and restore defective equipment safely and efficiently.
* Complete preventive maintenance tasks within established schedules and report any work that requires further technical attention.
* Participate in planned plant shutdowns and execute assigned instrument maintenance activities within agreed completion periods.
* Support maintenance work during unscheduled machinery shutdowns to help restore equipment availability.
* Verify repaired or serviced equipment through functional testing before it is returned to operation.
* Complete maintenance activity sheets with accurate information about inspections, repairs, calibration results and replaced components.
* Conduct regular field checks to identify deteriorating equipment, abnormal indications or developing control problems.
* Communicate defects and technical observations promptly to the responsible supervisor.
* Calibrate transmitters, switches, indicators, controllers and other process measurement devices.
* Test protective instrumentation and confirm that alarms, trips and related control functions operate as designed.
* Perform approved modifications to control elements, instrument wiring and control loops under authorized plant change requests.
* Follow management of change requirements throughout modification, testing and handover activities.
* Assist with updating loop diagrams, instrument drawings and related plant documentation after field changes.
* Retrofit new control instruments into existing field panels and main control room systems.
* Support installation, commissioning and performance verification of upgraded instrumentation.
* Confirm that replacement instruments comply with the required range, accuracy, materials and operating specifications.
* Coordinate equipment isolation, testing and return-to-service activities with operations and other maintenance disciplines.
* Maintain calibration equipment, testing devices and specialist tools in safe working condition.
* Follow permit-to-work controls, isolation requirements and applicable HSE procedures.
* Maintain orderly work locations and handle removed equipment, cables and maintenance materials responsibly.
* Recommend practical improvements that can reduce recurring failures and strengthen maintenance effectiveness.

The preferred candidate is a safety-focused instrument technician who can diagnose faults methodically and perform accurate maintenance around operating industrial equipment. * Technical Diploma in a relevant discipline or a Secondary School Certificate with a vocational trade certificate.
* At least four years of experience in instrumentation and control maintenance within the oil and gas industry or a comparable industrial plant.
