Role Context
The UT Technician - NDT Inspection will support non-destructive testing activities across oil and gas projects by performing inspection work on piping systems, pipelines, pressure equipment, and related industrial assets. The role helps verify material condition, weld integrity, and equipment reliability before project acceptance, maintenance decisions, or further operational use.
This position is important for maintaining inspection quality, reducing technical risk, supporting safe project execution, and ensuring accurate documentation for client and quality review.
Core Duties
* Perform ultrasonic testing on piping, pipelines, equipment, welds, and other oil and gas project components.
* Carry out NDT inspection activities using approved procedures, project specifications, and applicable quality standards.
* Support magnetic particle testing, penetrant testing, positive material identification, and hardness testing where required.
* Check inspection areas, equipment readiness, calibration status, and safety conditions before starting work.
* Record inspection results accurately and prepare supporting documentation for review.
* Identify defects, discontinuities, material concerns, and reportable indications based on applicable acceptance criteria.
* Coordinate with supervisors, quality teams, and project personnel during daily inspection activities.
* Maintain proper communication with team members to avoid delays, rework, or reporting errors.
* Follow safety procedures, permit requirements, and site work instructions during all assigned tasks.
* Support inspection work on pipelines, plant equipment, fabrication items, and maintenance-related components.
* Ensure testing tools, probes, consumables, and related inspection equipment are handled properly.
* Complete assigned inspection work within project timelines while maintaining accuracy and professional discipline.
Ideal Profile
* Minimum HSC, 12th standard, or equivalent qualification with relevant technical certification.
* PCN UT 3.1 and 3.2 certification is required.
* ASNT Level 2 certification in MPT and PT is required.
* Minimum 2-3 years of post-certification experience in UT, MPT, PT, PMI, and HT work.
* Experience in oil and gas inspection, especially on piping, pipelines, and equipment, is preferred.
* Good communication skills for site coordination, reporting, and team interaction.
* Ability to understand inspection procedures, technical instructions, and quality requirements.
* Strong attention to detail when identifying defects and recording inspection findings.
* Practical understanding of inspection safety, equipment calibration, and field documentation.
* Ability to work in a structured industrial environment under project deadlines.
