Role Context
The Well Services Technician provides essential field support before, during and after well workover activities. The position prepares surface facilities for intervention by surveying existing installations, documenting layouts and safely dismantling equipment that could interfere with workover operations. Once well activities are completed, the technician supports reinstatement and tie-in of pipelines, supports and associated fittings so that facilities can return to operational service with accurate records and minimal unnecessary downtime.
Key Responsibilities
* Survey surface facilities associated with wells scheduled for workover activities.
* Record field measurements and prepare schematic drawings showing pipelines, pipe supports and associated installations.
* Assess existing surface arrangements before dismantling activities begin and identify requirements for safe work execution.
* Dismantle surface facilities required to provide access for well workover operations.
* Reinstall and reinstate surface facilities following completion of well intervention activities.
* Work on pipelines, pipe supports, cathodic protection cables and associated fittings within the required wellhead area.
* Support post-workover tie-in activities to restore surface facility connections.
* Coordinate with pipeline personnel on minor modifications involving piping and fittings under appropriate supervision.
* Produce clear field schematics that support preparation and updating of as-built drawings.
* Verify measurements and installation details so completed facility changes can be accurately documented.
* Ensure adequate availability of materials, spare parts and consumables needed for scheduled well services work.
* Check local stock levels and identify material shortages before they affect field execution.
* Prepare documentation for issuing stocked materials and initiating procurement of direct-purchase items where required.
* Assist the supervisor in maintaining efficient workshop services supporting well intervention and workover activities.
* Maintain well services records, technical files, statements and other assigned operational documentation.
* Follow departmental KPIs and contribute to timely completion of field activities.
* Coordinate manpower, materials and equipment efficiently to minimize avoidable standby time.
* Use assigned resources responsibly throughout dismantling, modification and reinstatement work.
* Observe established safety procedures during all field and workshop activities.
* Monitor personnel working under assigned control and ensure activities are carried out safely.
* Identify unsafe conditions associated with wellhead surface work and escalate concerns through established channels.
* Maintain orderly work areas and ensure tools, materials and equipment are properly managed during field activities.
* Coordinate effectively with Well Services, Pipeline and other supporting teams to maintain smooth workover execution.
Ideal Profile
* Technical Diploma in a relevant technical discipline or Secondary School Certificate supported by an appropriate vocational trade certificate.
* Minimum 4 years of relevant practical experience.
* Previous experience in the Oil and Gas industry is preferred.
* Practical understanding of wellhead surface facilities and associated piping arrangements.
* Experience dismantling and reinstating pipelines, pipe supports and mechanical fittings.
* Familiarity with cathodic protection cables and associated surface installations.
* Ability to conduct field surveys and take accurate dimensional measurements.
* Ability to prepare clear technical sketches and schematic drawings from actual field conditions.
* Understanding of minor piping modification and tie-in activities.
