Role Context
The Area Manager will lead day-to-day shift operations at an Amazon operational site, ensuring teams remain aligned with safety, productivity, quality, and customer service expectations.
The position combines people leadership with operational problem solving. The manager will monitor workflows, review performance metrics, respond to individual escalations, and coordinate contingency plans when operational conditions change.
Working closely with other managers, engineers, support teams, and external partners, the Area Manager will help maintain consistent execution while identifying opportunities to simplify processes and improve site performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and support a large and diverse frontline team during assigned shifts.
* Maintain a strong culture of workplace safety and employee wellbeing.
* Monitor operational processes to ensure productivity and quality remain at consistently high levels.
* Analyze shift performance data and identify areas requiring corrective action.
* Implement practical measures that help teams achieve operational and customer service objectives.

* Manage individual escalations while protecting broader shift performance.
* Balance routine responsibilities with process improvement and longer-term operational initiatives.
* Work flexibly across weekends, nights, holidays, and other shifts as required.
* Safely perform operational duties that may include pushing or pulling wheeled dollies loaded with products weighing up to 100 pounds.
Ideal Profile
Candidates should have at least one year of experience in employee and performance management.
A bachelor\'s degree or equivalent qualification is required, although candidates with at least two years of Amazon full-time employee experience may also meet the relevant qualification criteria.
The role suits someone comfortable leading people in a fast-paced operational environment where priorities can change quickly and performance must be maintained across different shifts.
Candidates should be confident working with operational metrics, analyzing performance gaps, coaching employees, resolving problems, and coordinating with multiple teams.
