**About The Role**

**Job Purpose:**
The Senior Mechanical Projects Engineer is responsible for planning, prioritizing, executing, and monitoring Pre-Projects in an efficient and systematic manner, adhering to QAFCO\'s procedures and specifications. This role involves analyzing problems, conducting root cause analysis, and performing engineering calculations to determine optimal techno-economic solutions. The engineer will prepare tenders, conduct technical evaluations, generate quality deliverables, and support project execution. Coordination with multiple trades and stakeholders is essential to ensure smooth project operations. The engineer will also compile and provide input for periodic reports and assist in cost control. This role is akin to that of Senior or Lead Engineers, differentiated primarily by experience. Compliance with QAFCO’s Health, Safety, and Environment procedures is mandatory.

**Key Accountabilities:**
- Plan and lead project activities, collaborating with stakeholders to achieve objectives and address challenges.
- Conduct engineering work for Pre-Projects, including root cause analysis, completing process data sheets with mechanical details, and performing engineering calculations according to codes and standards.
- Produce engineering deliverables and conduct necessary safety and environmental studies to ensure smooth project execution.
- Ensure Pre-project work is delivered with optimal technical solutions and quality within the scheduled time and budget, following Project Execution Guidelines and QAFCO Engineering Specifications.
- Develop and maintain specifications/standards for engineering practices, incorporating lessons learned.
- Stay updated on technological developments to identify and recommend opportunities for increased effectiveness and cost reduction.
- Provide technical support for multiple projects and operations, ensuring quality and adherence to schedules.
- Assign tasks, mentor contract resources, and ensure work aligns with QAFCO requirements.
- Support the training of new and trainee engineers to equip them with the necessary skills for independent task performance and knowledge exchange.

**Desired Candidate Profile:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- In-depth technical knowledge of engineering codes and standards (ASME, API, ANSI, IEC, BS, EN, etc.) and their application.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience as a Rotating/Package Mechanical Engineer, preferably in petrochemical and/or ammonia/urea manufacturing projects.
- Proficient in developing datasheets, reviewing engineering documents, and managing the procurement and installation of rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, steam turbines, gas turbines, and packaged equipment.
- Demonstrated experience as a project engineer for mechanical package design and supply is an additional asset.
