Role Context
The Art Teacher - Creative Arts will help students develop practical art skills, creative thinking, visual awareness, and appreciation for artistic expression. The position supports a British Curriculum school environment by delivering engaging lessons, managing creative projects, encouraging individual imagination, and helping students build strong foundations in drawing, painting, design, composition, and mixed media.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging art lessons that support creativity, technical development, and curriculum learning goals.
* Plan classroom activities across drawing, painting, design, craft, visual studies, and mixed media.
* Encourage students to explore artistic ideas, experiment with materials, and develop their own creative style.
* Teach key art concepts including color, form, line, texture, proportion, perspective, composition, and presentation.
* Create an inclusive classroom setting where students of different abilities feel supported and motivated.
* Assess student artwork, practical participation, creative growth, and project completion through constructive feedback.
* Maintain organized lesson plans, student portfolios, assessment records, display work, and classroom documentation.
* Manage art tools, materials, displays, and resources safely and efficiently.
* Support school art exhibitions, creative showcases, competitions, themed displays, and cultural activities.
* Use demonstrations, examples, visual references, and guided practice to make lessons clear and inspiring.
* Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to strengthen creative learning across the school.
* Maintain positive classroom routines, safety standards, and respectful student behavior during practical sessions.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field is required.
* Master’s degree in a relevant discipline will be preferred.
* Experience teaching art to diverse student populations is preferred.
* Previous experience in a British Curriculum school will be an advantage.
* Strong knowledge of visual arts, practical art techniques, creative projects, and classroom-based art instruction.
* Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
* Passion for art education and the ability to inspire students through creative teaching.
* Confident in managing classroom activities, art materials, student portfolios, and practical learning sessions.
* Ability to support different learning styles and encourage student confidence through art.
