Role Context
The Assistant Principal - Assessment Leadership role supports the Principal and Vice Principal in maintaining a safe, organised, and high-performing school environment at Mubarak Bin Mohammed Charter School. The position has a strong focus on assessment leadership, data-informed planning, teacher evaluation, student progress monitoring, and school improvement actions aligned with ADEK expectations and Aldar Education priorities.
This role requires a confident leader who can manage assessment schedules, support MAP, TALA, TIMs, and Exact Path processes, strengthen instructional planning, and work with senior leaders, heads of department, teachers, parents, and external agencies to improve standards and achievement.
Key Responsibilities
* Direct and quality assure staff and student activities to maintain a safe, orderly, and effective learning environment.
* Lead the school assessment schedule in collaboration with the Vice Principal Curriculum and heads of department.
* Coordinate assessment processes including MAP, TALA, TIMs, and related school achievement measures.
* Ensure the school meets associated assessment KPIs and reporting expectations.
* Build a data-rich culture where assessment evidence informs instructional planning and intervention.
* Collaborate with the Principal and Vice Principal to supervise and evaluate teachers, supervisors, and curriculum support staff.
* Support recruitment by screening applicants, participating in interviews, and recommending suitable teaching and non-teaching candidates.
* Implement student achievement improvement efforts linked to the school development plan, ADEK regulations, and Aldar Education direction.
* Support school improvement plans, standardised testing, remediation, data collection, reporting, and special testing schedules.
* Lead MAP and Exact Path student achievement planning with progress-based testing schedules.
* Oversee assessment reporting, student attainment tracking, progress records, data collection, student records, and archiving.
* Work with the senior leadership team on instructional methods, teaching materials, learning strategies, and academic programmes.
* Develop and implement staff CPD plans that support professional growth and improve teaching quality.
* Assist with the timely completion and submission of reports, forms, and data requests.
* Work with administrators and school staff to promote collaboration, effectiveness, and shared accountability.
* Build productive relationships with parents and external agencies to support student progress and wellbeing.
* Carry out additional duties assigned by the School Principal.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Education or BSc or BA degree with PGCE or equivalent.
* Master’s degree or NPQSL is desirable.
* At least 6 years of teaching experience.
* Minimum 4 consecutive years of performance exceeding standards and expectations, supported by performance appraisal.
* At least 2 years of experience in a middle leadership role.
* Experience leading school initiatives that resulted in significant improvement in standards and achievement.
* Experience working with parents and external agencies.
* Excellent knowledge across pastoral care, curriculum, assessment, inclusion, teaching, and learning.
* Strong understanding of American Curriculum school operations and primary education expectations.
* Ability to lead assessment systems, interpret performance data, and improve instructional planning.
* Confident in supervising staff, supporting teacher development, and leading school improvement.
* Strong communication, organisation, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills.
