Role Context
The Biology Teacher will support high-quality learning across secondary science by delivering well-planned lessons, using student data to close learning gaps, and contributing to the continued improvement of Biology teaching standards. This position requires a teacher who can combine subject expertise with practical classroom strategies, inclusive learning methods, and a clear understanding of UK curriculum expectations.
The role also involves close collaboration with colleagues to maintain strong schemes of work, support examination readiness, and provide students with the academic guidance needed to achieve consistent progress.
Key Responsibilities
* Teach Biology lessons that are clear, engaging, and aligned with the English National Curriculum.
* Prepare students for academic success through structured learning, regular assessment, and targeted feedback.
* Use performance data to identify students who need additional support and create practical action plans for improvement.
* Contribute to the development and review of Biology schemes of work across relevant year groups and courses.
* Support learning pathways for SEN, POD, gifted and talented, and EAL students through effective differentiation.
* Maintain high expectations for classroom behaviour, achievement, participation, and independent learning.
* Participate in booster sessions, revision support, enrichment activities, and wider school academic programmes.
* Work with department colleagues to improve teaching practice, share resources, and support curriculum continuity.
* Help evaluate learning standards within the department and contribute ideas for improvement.
* Communicate professionally with students, parents, staff, and school leaders.
* Use classroom resources and learning spaces effectively to create a positive science learning environment.
* Follow safeguarding policies and promote the welfare, safety, and wellbeing of all students.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Biology or a closely related subject.
* PGCE or another recognised teacher qualification.
* Minimum 6 years of teaching experience.
* Strong experience teaching the UK curriculum.
* Solid understanding of Biology curriculum delivery, assessment standards, and student progression.
* Ability to raise achievement through effective lesson planning and intervention strategies.
* Experience supporting mixed-ability learners in an inclusive classroom setting.
* Confident communicator with strong teamwork and professional collaboration skills.
* Able to contribute to school improvement, enrichment programmes, and departmental development.
* Respect for the cultural values, expectations, and educational environment of the UAE.
