Role Context
The Computer Science Teacher - A Level role supports the delivery and continued development of computer science learning at Yasmina British Academy. The teacher will plan structured lessons, strengthen student progress, and contribute to a high-performing academic environment where learners develop technical confidence, logical reasoning, coding ability, and examination readiness.
This position requires a reflective educator who can use student data, curriculum planning, assessment evidence, and targeted support to close learning gaps and stretch high-achieving students. The role also contributes to departmental improvement, enrichment activities, CAS programmes, booster sessions, revision support, and effective use of digital learning resources.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging Computer Science lessons aligned with the English National Curriculum and school academic expectations.
* Teach advanced computer science concepts that support IGCSE, A Level, and wider digital learning pathways.
* Help students develop programming knowledge, computational thinking, algorithmic reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
* Support students through booster sessions, revision programmes, CAS activities, and subject enrichment opportunities.
* Develop, review, and improve schemes of work to ensure strong curriculum coverage, continuity, and progression.
* Use assessment data to identify underachieving students and create practical action plans for improvement.
* Analyse school and department data to inform teaching strategies, policies, and self-evaluation planning.
* Provide suitable challenge and support for SEN, POD, gifted and talented, and EAL students.
* Maintain high expectations for achievement, classroom conduct, lesson quality, and independent learning.
* Evaluate teaching and learning standards to identify effective practice and areas requiring improvement.
* Contribute to departmental planning, curriculum development, resource use, and academic quality assurance.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to improve teaching practice, share resources, and support student outcomes.
* Use classrooms, digital tools, learning platforms, and technology resources effectively to create a stimulating learning environment.
* Support efficient deployment of staff and learning resources where required by departmental planning.

Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Education, or a closely related subject.
* PGCE or another recognised teacher qualification.
* Minimum 6 years of teaching experience.
* Experience teaching the UK curriculum.
* Strong knowledge of Computer Science subject content, curriculum progression, assessment standards, and examination preparation.
* Ability to teach advanced concepts such as programming, algorithms, data handling, systems, and computational thinking.
* Proven ability to raise achievement and close learning gaps through effective teaching strategies.
* Experience supporting students across different ability levels, including SEN, POD, gifted and talented, and EAL learners.
* Strong communication, collaboration, classroom management, and reflective teaching skills.
* Ability to contribute to departmental development, enrichment programmes, and whole-school improvement.
