Role Context

The Design and Technology Teacher role supports high-quality teaching and learning at Muna British Academy as the school continues to expand its provision in Abu Dhabi. The teacher will plan and deliver purposeful lessons, create a positive classroom environment, assess student development, and use learning data to guide future planning and intervention.

This position requires a reflective practitioner who can support students across different ability levels, work collaboratively with colleagues, communicate effectively with families, and contribute to the wider life of the school through curriculum projects, extra-curricular activities, and whole-school events.

Key Responsibilities

* Deliver inspiring Design and Technology lessons that support student achievement and practical learning.
* Plan, prepare, and present sessions that meet curriculum expectations and the needs of the full ability range.
* Organise classroom resources, displays, and learning spaces to create an engaging subject environment.
* Use imaginative teaching methods to motivate students and encourage creativity, confidence, and independent thinking.
* Observe and assess student progress in line with school assessment procedures.
* Use assessment data to adjust planning, improve provision, and provide targeted support where needed.
* Take responsibility for the progress of assigned classes and maintain accurate student development records.
* Provide regular feedback to parents and carers through conferences, meetings, and school communication systems.
* Work alongside colleagues to plan lessons, share resources, and support curriculum development.
* Cooperate with curriculum support staff and external professionals where required to support student development.
* Follow the school behaviour policy and use suitable strategies to inspire, motivate, and challenge learners.
* Maintain positive relationships with students while promoting self-control, independence, and respectful behaviour.
* Communicate student wellbeing and safeguarding concerns through school systems such as CPOMS where appropriate.
* Support curriculum action groups, planning, assessment, resources, and special events.
* Take part in school events, outings, activities, and extra-curricular commitments when required.
* Run a weekly ECA each term to enhance student learning beyond the classroom.

Ideal Profile

* Bachelor’s degree in Design and Technology, Education, or a related subject.
* PGCE or another recognised teaching qualification.
* Minimum 1-2 years of teaching experience.
* Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
