Position Overview
Aldar Education is seeking a qualified Design Technology Teacher to join its growing network of schools in Abu Dhabi at the beginning of the 2026/27 academic year in August 2026. The successful candidate will deliver creative and challenging lessons that develop students’ design thinking, technical knowledge and practical problem-solving abilities.
The role requires effective curriculum planning, inclusive instruction and positive classroom management. Candidates should create engaging learning experiences that encourage creativity, critical thinking and the academic, social and personal development of every student.

The Design Technology Teacher will plan and deliver lessons that combine creative design with technical understanding. The position includes differentiated instruction, student-progress monitoring, safeguarding responsibilities and collaboration with parents and school stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging Design Technology lessons.
Implement the relevant curriculum according to defined learning outcomes.
Use appropriate syllabuses, teaching materials and schemes of work.
Develop students’ creativity, technical understanding and design skills.
Encourage critical thinking and practical problem-solving.
Plan effective long-term, medium-term and short-term learning sequences.
Identify clear teaching objectives for individual lessons and curriculum units.
Ensure students achieve expected learning outcomes.
Prepare lessons suitable for pupils across the full ability range.
Differentiate instruction according to individual student needs.
Support students of determination and pupils with special educational needs.
Adapt lessons for students who speak English as an additional language.
Provide suitable challenge for gifted and talented learners.
Organise classroom resources and displays that promote active learning.
Create a positive environment conducive to outstanding teaching.
Motivate students through enjoyable, creative and challenging lessons.
Reflect on lesson effectiveness and student progress.
Adjust teaching strategies, resources and planning when required.
Deliver face-to-face, hybrid and distance-learning lessons when necessary.
Use appropriate digital tools to support modern teaching and learning.
Follow school policies relating to behaviour and professional conduct.
Maintain strong safeguarding and child-protection practices.
Manage classes using approaches suited to pupils’ learning needs.
Build positive and respectful relationships with students.
Exercise appropriate authority in accordance with school procedures.
Maintain high expectations for behaviour, self-control and independence.
Model the positive attitudes, values and conduct expected from pupils.
Ensure students learn in a safe and secure environment.
Promote students’ academic, social and emotional development.
Communicate professionally with parents and other stakeholders.
Participate consistently in extracurricular activities.
Complete assigned duties in accordance with school policies.
Ideal Profile
Bachelor’s degree in Design Technology or a closely related subject.
PGCE or another recognised teaching qualification.
Minimum two years of experience in a similar teaching role.
International-school teaching experience is required.
Experience supporting students who speak English as an additional language.
Strong understanding of curriculum planning and differentiated instruction.
Passion for teaching and commitment to nurturing children.
