Role Context
The Design Technology Teacher - School role supports the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning within one of Aldar Education’s Abu Dhabi schools. The teacher will create a positive learning climate, plan structured lessons, manage classroom resources, and deliver curriculum-based sessions that challenge students while supporting academic, social, and personal growth.
This position requires a teacher who can work confidently with different ability levels, support SEN, POD, EAL, and gifted learners, and use hybrid, distance, and face-to-face teaching methods when required. The role also contributes to safe classroom practice, behaviour management, student wellbeing, and the wider professional life of the school.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver Design Technology lessons that inspire students and support strong learning outcomes.
* Apply the curriculum effectively through appropriate syllabus content, materials, and schemes of work.
* Plan long-term, medium-term, and short-term lessons that meet individual student learning needs.
* Create a positive classroom environment with suitable resources, displays, and practical learning opportunities.
* Present lessons that support the full ability range and encourage creativity, enquiry, and critical thinking.
* Identify clear teaching and learning objectives and monitor student achievement against them.
* Reflect on classroom provision, lesson delivery, student progress, and curriculum planning to improve outcomes.
* Support SEN, POD, EAL, and gifted and talented students through appropriate differentiation.
* Facilitate hybrid, distance, and face-to-face lessons when required by the school.
* Use effective behaviour management strategies that inspire, motivate, and challenge learners.
* Promote positive conduct, self-control, independence, and respectful classroom behaviour.
* Maintain safe and secure learning conditions that support social, emotional, and academic development.
* Build positive relationships with students while applying appropriate authority when needed.
* Follow school policies covering behaviour, code of conduct, safeguarding, and child protection.
* Carry out duties as directed and contribute professionally to the school community.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in a related subject.
* PGCE or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
* Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar teaching role.
* Mandatory experience working in an international school.
* Experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
* Strong understanding of curriculum planning, lesson sequencing, and student progress.
* Ability to teach creatively while maintaining high expectations for learning and behaviour.
* Approachable, professional, calm, and knowledgeable classroom presence.
* Strong interpersonal skills for communication with parents in a diverse multicultural environment.
* Ability to deal professionally with a wide range of stakeholders.
* Passion for teaching and commitment to educating and nurturing children.
