Role Context
The Head of KS2 - Academic Leadership role supports Al Shohub Private School in maintaining strong academic standards, effective curriculum planning, and clear progress expectations across Key Stage 2. The role requires a leader who can contribute to the academy improvement plan, support self-evaluation targets, and ensure that learning remains inclusive, structured, and aligned with the needs of students in a British curriculum primary school.
This position also carries responsibility for supporting staff practice, assessment systems, curriculum continuity, safeguarding expectations, and student progress across different ability levels. The successful candidate will work within a school community rooted in Emirati values, parent aspirations, and ADEK requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the academy’s vision, strategic intentions, improvement plan, and self-evaluation targets.
* Help develop, review, and evaluate relevant schemes of work across Key Stage 2.
* Ensure curriculum coverage, continuity, and progression for all students in the department.
* Maintain suitable provision for SEN, gifted and talented, and EAL students.
* Support high ability learners and students with special educational needs through appropriate planning and challenge.
* Establish and implement clear practices for assessing, recording, and reporting student achievement.
* Use assessment information to support planning, intervention, reporting, and student progress.
* Contribute to high standards of teaching, learning, behaviour, and academic achievement.
* Support staff in maintaining consistent curriculum delivery and strong classroom expectations.
* Assist with annual target setting and performance management responsibilities when directed by the Principal.
* Engage in annual training linked to safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, academy improvement, and performance development.
* Follow academy policies related to safe working practice, equal opportunities, dress code, photo ID, technology use, and professional conduct.
* Work with teachers and leaders to maintain a safe, purposeful, and inclusive learning environment.
* Build positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the wider school community.
* Uphold safeguarding, child protection, confidentiality, and professional standards at all times.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s Degree in a related subject.
* PGCE or another recognised teacher qualification.
* Minimum 6 years of teaching experience in the English National Curriculum.
* Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
* Strong understanding of Key Stage 2 curriculum planning, assessment, and student progress.
* Ability to support curriculum coverage, continuity, and progression across a primary school phase.
* Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child.
* Positive and solution-focused approach to school leadership and daily professional responsibilities.
* Strong communication skills with students, parents, teachers, and school leaders.
* Ability to contribute to school improvement, inclusive learning, and staff development.
* Respect for UAE cultural values, Emirati community expectations, and ADEK school standards.
