Role Context
The Ice and Chiller Plant Operator will be responsible for operating refrigeration, ice-making, and water-chilling systems used within the ready-mix concrete production process. The role helps
maintain the required concrete temperature by ensuring a reliable supply of chilled water and ice to the batching plant.
The operator will monitor equipment performance, maintain accurate operating records, identify abnormalities, and coordinate routine maintenance to reduce breakdowns and production delays. This position requires practical plant experience, attention to safety, and the ability to work closely with batching, maintenance, and quality control teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate industrial ice-making machines, chillers, refrigeration units, pumps, tanks, and associated plant equipment.
* Supply the required quantities of ice and chilled water to the ready-mix concrete batching plant.
* Monitor water temperature, pressure, flow rate, refrigeration levels, and equipment operating parameters.
* Adjust plant settings according to concrete production schedules and approved temperature requirements.
* Ensure ice and chilled water are available before and during scheduled concrete batching operations.
* Coordinate with batching plant operators regarding daily production volumes and cooling requirements.
* Inspect compressors, condensers, evaporators, pumps, valves, pipelines, motors, and control panels.
* Identify unusual noise, vibration, leakage, overheating, pressure variation, or reduced cooling performance.
* Report mechanical, electrical, or refrigeration faults promptly to the maintenance team.
* Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, inspection, and basic preventive maintenance activities.
* Assist technicians during troubleshooting, repair, servicing, and replacement of plant components.
* Maintain adequate water levels and monitor the quality and cleanliness of stored water and produced ice.
* Prevent contamination of ice, chilled water, storage tanks, and distribution systems.
* Record operating temperatures, pressures, production quantities, equipment status, and downtime.
* Maintain daily shift logs and report unresolved problems during handover.
* Monitor energy and water consumption and support efforts to improve plant efficiency.
* Follow equipment startup, operation, shutdown, and emergency procedures.
* Keep the plant area clean, dry, organized, and free from operational hazards.
* Use required personal protective equipment and follow company HSE procedures.
* Support uninterrupted ready-mix concrete production by responding quickly to operational requirements.
