The role requires high-quality teaching, effective use of classroom resources and positive relationships with students, families and the wider school community. Candidates must reside in the same emirate as their assigned school.

Role Context

The Homeroom Teacher will take responsibility for the learning, wellbeing and progress of an assigned class. The position also involves assessment, behaviour management, family communication, curriculum collaboration and participation in extracurricular activities.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver inspiring and inclusive classroom lessons.
Enable pupils to develop confidence and independence.
Help every student achieve the greatest possible academic progress.
Ensure teaching meets the requirements of the relevant curriculum.
Prepare learning activities suitable for the full ability range.
Differentiate instruction according to individual student needs.
Use classroom resources effectively to improve learning outcomes.
Organise displays and resources that create an engaging environment.
Motivate pupils through enthusiastic and imaginative teaching.
Take responsibility for the progress and attainment of an assigned class.
Observe and assess pupils according to school requirements.
Record student development using Target Tracker or other approved systems.
Use assessment data to improve planning, provision and intervention.
Identify learning gaps and provide appropriate academic support.
Reflect on lesson effectiveness and adjust planning when required.
Embed the assigned school’s Teacher and Learner DNA throughout the curriculum.
Develop positive relationships with students and colleagues.
Work collaboratively with teachers to plan effective lessons.
Liaise flexibly and professionally with colleagues across the school.
Cooperate with curriculum-support staff to support student development.
Work with speech therapists, occupational therapists and educational psychologists when required.
Communicate student progress and wellbeing to parents and carers.
Participate in parent-teacher conferences and other family meetings.
Use CPOMS and other approved school systems appropriately.
Follow the school’s behaviour-management policy.
Manage classes using approaches appropriate to pupils’ needs.
Maintain positive relationships while exercising suitable authority.
Promote high standards of conduct, independence and self-control.
Model the attitudes, values and behaviour expected from students.
Participate in curriculum action groups and team initiatives.
Support curriculum planning, assessment, resources and special events.
Contribute to school events, outings and community activities.
Attend occasional activities held during evenings or weekends.
Lead one weekly extracurricular activity during each term.
Follow safeguarding and child-protection requirements.
Complete professional duties in accordance with school policies.

Ideal Profile

Bachelor’s degree in Education or a relevant academic subject.
PGCE or another recognised teaching qualification.
Minimum one to two years of relevant teaching experience.
Previous experience supporting students whose first language is not English.
Strong understanding of curriculum planning, teaching and assessment.
Ability to differentiate instruction for pupils with varied learning needs.
Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child.
Professional approach with careful consideration for student wellbeing.
Recent and consistent involvement in extracurricular activities.
Respect for all members of a multicultural school community.
Positive, collaborative and solution-focused attitude.
Ability to obtain a satisfactory enhanced DBS check or police clearance.
Commitment to safeguarding children and young people.
Must reside in the same emirate as the assigned school.
