Role Context
The Homeroom Teacher - Primary Learning role focuses on delivering inspiring and inclusive classroom teaching that enables every child to progress with confidence. The teacher will manage daily learning, organise classroom resources, assess student development, and adapt planning to meet the needs of different learners.
This position also requires strong teamwork, parent communication, behaviour management, safeguarding awareness, and active participation in the wider school community. The successful candidate will help create a classroom culture where students feel supported, motivated, independent, and ready to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging lessons that inspire students and support strong learning outcomes.
* Teach in an inclusive way that encourages independence, confidence, and active participation.
* Plan, prepare, and present lessons that match curriculum requirements and student learning needs.
* Organise classroom provision, displays, and learning resources to create a positive learning environment.
* Use imaginative teaching strategies to motivate pupils and support the full ability range within the class.
* Observe, assess, and record student development in line with school assessment expectations.
* Use Target Tracker and assessment data to guide future planning, classroom provision, and intervention.
* Reflect on lessons, student progress, and classroom practice to improve teaching quality.
* Work with fellow teachers to plan engaging learning experiences and share effective practice.
* Cooperate with curriculum support staff and external professionals where required to support student development.
* Communicate clearly with parents and carers about student progress, achievement, and wellbeing.
* Follow the school behaviour policy and use suitable approaches to inspire, motivate, and challenge pupils.
* Promote positive behaviour, self-control, independence, respect, and responsible learning habits.
* Use school systems such as CPOMS where appropriate to communicate student wellbeing or safeguarding matters.
* Participate in curriculum action groups, assessment planning, resources, and special school events.
* Support school outings, activities, evening events, weekend events, and wider community initiatives when required.
* Run a weekly ECA each term to enrich student learning beyond the classroom.
* Uphold safeguarding, child protection, professional conduct, and all school policy requirements.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in the related subject.
* PGCE or another recognised teaching qualification.
* Minimum 1-2 years of teaching experience.
* Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
* Clear understanding of curriculum delivery, classroom assessment, and student progress support.
* Ability to teach young learners with patience, creativity, structure, and care.
* Strong communication skills with students, parents, colleagues, and the wider school community.
* Collaborative approach with the flexibility to work across teams and support shared goals.
* Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child.
* High level of professionalism and consideration for student wellbeing.
* Recent and consistent involvement in extra-curricular activities.
* Respect for all members of the school community regardless of position, gender, age, or ethnic background.
