Role Context
The Inclusion Teacher - Learning Support role supports inclusive teaching and learning at Bateen World Academy in Abu Dhabi. The teacher will plan and deliver lessons that help students access the curriculum, develop independence, and achieve the best possible outcomes across a school environment offering PYP, UK curriculum, IGCSE, and IB Diploma pathways.
This position requires a reflective and collaborative educator who can support students across the full ability range, use assessment information to improve planning, and work closely with parents, carers, teachers, curriculum support staff, and external professionals. The successful candidate will also contribute to curriculum action groups, extra-curricular activities, safeguarding practice, and the wider life of the school.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver inspiring inclusion-focused lessons that support student progress and confidence.
* Plan, prepare, and present learning sessions that meet curriculum expectations and learner needs.
* Support students across the full ability range through differentiated instruction and inclusive classroom practice.
* Organise classroom provision, learning resources, and displays to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
* Use imaginative teaching approaches to motivate pupils and encourage independence, participation, and self-belief.
* Work alongside fellow teachers to plan engaging lessons and support curriculum access.
* Observe, assess, and record student development in line with school assessment expectations.
* Use Target Tracker and assessment data to guide future planning, learning provision, and intervention.
* Reflect on classroom practice, lessons taught, student progress, and curriculum delivery to improve outcomes.
* Work cooperatively with curriculum support staff to support student development where applicable.
* Meet with external professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists when required.
* Communicate clearly with parents and carers about student achievement, progress, and wellbeing.
* Follow the school behaviour policy and use suitable approaches to inspire, motivate, and challenge pupils.
* Maintain positive relationships with students while promoting self-control, independence, respect, and responsible learning habits.
* Use CPOMS and school systems where appropriate to communicate student achievement, wellbeing, or safeguarding concerns.
* Participate in curriculum action groups, planning, assessment, resources, and special events.
* Support school activities, outings, evening events, weekend events, and wider community initiatives when required.
* Run a weekly ECA each term to strengthen student engagement beyond regular classroom lessons.
* Uphold safeguarding, child protection, professional conduct, and all school policy requirements.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Inclusion, Special Education, or a related subject.
* PGCE or another recognised teaching qualification.
* Minimum 1-2 years of teaching experience.
* Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
* Clear understanding of inclusive learning, curriculum delivery, classroom assessment, and student progress support.
* Ability to teach and support learners with patience, creativity, structure, and care.
* Strong communication skills with students, parents, carers, colleagues, and the wider school community.
* Collaborative approach with the flexibility to work across teams and support shared goals.
* Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child.
* High level of professionalism and consideration for student wellbeing.
* Recent and consistent involvement in extra-curricular activities.
