Role Context
The Islamic Studies Teacher - UAE National role supports high-quality teaching and learning at Abdulla Bin Otaiba Charter School in Mohamed Bin Zayed City, Abu Dhabi. The teacher will deliver structured Islamic Studies lessons that help students understand Islamic values, moral responsibility, respect, identity, and positive behaviour within a supportive school community.
This position requires a reflective and collaborative educator who can support learners across the full ability range, use assessment data to improve planning, and communicate effectively with parents, carers, colleagues, and curriculum support staff. The successful candidate will contribute to classroom learning, assessment, student wellbeing, safeguarding practice, and the wider school culture of collaboration, leadership, and creativity.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver inspiring Islamic Studies lessons that help students achieve strong academic and personal outcomes.
* Plan, prepare, and present learning sessions aligned with curriculum requirements and student needs.
* Support students in developing Islamic knowledge, moral values, cultural understanding, respect, and responsible behaviour.
* Organise classroom provision, learning resources, and displays to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
* Use enthusiastic and imaginative teaching methods to motivate pupils and encourage active participation.
* Work alongside fellow teachers to plan engaging lessons and support consistent curriculum delivery.
* Support the full ability range through differentiated instruction and inclusive classroom practice.
* Observe, assess, and record student progress in line with school assessment expectations.
* Use Target Tracker and assessment data to guide future planning, classroom provision, and intervention.
* Reflect on classroom practice, lessons taught, student progress, and curriculum delivery to improve outcomes.
* Work cooperatively with curriculum support staff and external professionals where required.
* Communicate clearly with parents and carers about student achievement, progress, and wellbeing.
* Follow the school behaviour policy and use approaches that inspire, motivate, and challenge pupils.
* Maintain positive relationships with students while promoting self-control, independence, respect, and responsible learning habits.
* Use CPOMS and school systems where appropriate to communicate student achievement, wellbeing, or safeguarding concerns.
* Participate in curriculum action groups, planning, assessment, resources, and special events.
* Support school outings, activities, evening events, weekend events, and wider school initiatives when required.
* Contribute positively to the wider life and ethos of the school.
* Uphold safeguarding, child protection, professional conduct, and all school policy requirements.
Ideal Profile
* UAE National candidate.
* Bachelor’s Degree in Islamic Education.
* PGCE or another recognised teacher qualification in a related subject is preferred.
* Minimum 1-2 years of teaching experience in Arabic and Islamic education.
* Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
* Clear understanding of curriculum delivery, classroom assessment, and student progress support.
* Ability to teach Islamic Studies with patience, clarity, structure, and care.
* Strong communication skills with students, parents, carers, colleagues, and the wider school community.
* Collaborative approach with the flexibility to work across teams and support shared goals.
* Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child.
* High level of professionalism and consideration for student wellbeing.
* Recent and consistent involvement in extra-curricular activities.
