Position Overview
Aldar Education is seeking an outstanding Laboratory Technician to join Al Ghad Charter School in Abu Dhabi for the 2026/27 academic year. The successful candidate will provide technical and operational support across science, ICT and LEGO laboratories and classrooms.
The role involves preparing practical lessons, maintaining equipment and materials, conducting safety checks and supporting teachers and students during laboratory activities. Candidates must demonstrate strong organisation, technical awareness and commitment to maintaining safe learning environments.

The Laboratory Technician will help teachers deliver safe and effective practical learning experiences. The position covers equipment preparation, experiment testing, laboratory maintenance, inventory control and technical classroom support.
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical and operational support across school laboratories.
Prepare science, ICT and LEGO laboratories for scheduled lessons.
Set up equipment, tools, chemicals and materials for practical activities.
Remain available in laboratories and preparation rooms to support teachers.
Provide technical assistance during classroom and laboratory sessions.
Liaise with academic staff regarding timetables and lesson requirements.
Discuss equipment needs and practical work plans with teaching teams.
Run trial experiments before lessons to verify procedures and outcomes.
Demonstrate experimental techniques to staff and students.
Explain the accurate and appropriate use of laboratory equipment.
Issue equipment and apparatus according to subject plans.
Retrieve and clear away apparatus after practical lessons.
Clean equipment and ensure materials are stored appropriately.
Maintain science, ICT and LEGO equipment in working condition.
Perform basic repairs and arrange specialist servicing when required.
Conduct periodic equipment tests according to safety requirements.
Maintain records of equipment servicing, maintenance and repairs.
Monitor laboratory stock levels and identify replenishment requirements.
Maintain a detailed inventory of equipment, quantities and expiry dates.
Manage stock control for tools, chemicals and laboratory materials.
Ensure all equipment is stored securely when not in use.
Keep records of student practical sessions, methods and results.
Support teachers during practical classes and laboratory activities.
Provide technical guidance to staff and students when appropriate.
Support individual students with laboratory and research projects.
Assist pupils participating in extracurricular practical activities.
Coordinate laboratory work to ensure efficient use of specialist equipment.
Maintain orderly, clean and appropriately stocked preparation areas.
Follow all health and safety procedures.
Ensure staff and students understand relevant laboratory safety requirements.
Report damaged equipment, hazards and safety concerns promptly.
Comply with safeguarding requirements and school policies.
Ideal Profile
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
Minimum three years of experience in a similar laboratory-support role.
Experience within a school, college or educational laboratory is advantageous.
Experience supporting a US Common Core Curriculum is preferred.
Understanding of science laboratory equipment and practical procedures.
Familiarity with ICT and LEGO learning equipment is beneficial.
Knowledge of chemical storage and laboratory inventory requirements.
Fluent written and spoken English communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills for working within a multicultural environment.
