Key Responsibilities
* Prepare art classrooms, workshop spaces, tools, equipment, and materials before scheduled lessons.
* Organise paints, papers, textiles, clay, drawing tools, adhesives, cutting equipment, and other creative resources according to departmental requirements.
* Assist teachers with the preparation of practical art materials and demonstration resources.
* Support students across all key stages during classroom activities when requested.
* Clean, inspect, maintain, and arrange the repair of art workshop tools on a daily, weekly, and termly basis.
* Liaise with internal departments and Facilities Management when specialist repair or maintenance support is required.
* Keep technician areas, storage spaces, workshops, and classrooms clean, orderly, and accessible.
* Maintain a safe working environment by removing hazards and ensuring that work areas are properly organised.
* Store equipment, chemicals, tools, artwork, and consumable materials safely and systematically.
* Check equipment regularly and report damaged, missing, or unsafe items to departmental leadership.
* Follow appropriate procedures for the handling, storage, and disposal of art materials.
* Assist with ordering and purchasing equipment, tools, materials, and consumables.
* Catalogue new resources and maintain accurate stock and equipment records.
* Monitor departmental spending and ensure purchases remain within the approved budget.
* Identify low-stock items and coordinate timely replenishment to avoid disruption to lessons.
* Use Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to maintain data, inventories, purchase records, documents, and presentations.
* Support the creation and maintenance of classroom displays, exhibitions, showcases, and visual presentations.
* Help prepare student artwork for school events, assessments, exhibitions, and community activities.
* Attend Art Department meetings and contribute to the efficient operation and future development of the department.
* Work closely with teachers to ensure technical support matches curriculum and classroom requirements.
* Assist the school in achieving priorities included in its improvement plan and self-evaluation processes.
* Attend staff briefings and complete required safeguarding, child-protection, health and safety, and professional training.
* Follow workplace health and safety legislation, safe-working procedures, and equal-opportunity requirements.
* Comply with the school\'s Performance Management Policy and agreed professional targets.
* Follow the staff dress code and wear the required identification badge or lanyard.

Ideal Profile
* Bachelor\'s degree in Art, Fine Art, Design, Education, or another relevant discipline.
* A Level or International Baccalaureate qualification in Art is advantageous.
* Previous experience in an Art Technician or comparable practical support position.
* Experience working within a school, college, studio, workshop, or educational setting.
* Practical knowledge of art tools, materials, workshop equipment, storage systems, and preparation procedures.
* Understanding of safe working practices within art classrooms and practical learning environments.
* Appreciation of high standards in organisation, presentation, safety, and resource management.
* Ability to prepare materials accurately and complete tasks according to lesson deadlines.
* Strong literacy and communication skills in both spoken and written English.
* Confidence communicating with senior leaders, department heads, teachers, students, parents, and support teams.
* Good administrative and computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
* Ability to remain effective and organised while working under pressure.
