Role
The Music Teacher will create learning experiences that combine technical knowledge with creativity, listening, practice, collaboration, and live performance. Students should be able to develop their abilities while gaining a lasting appreciation for different musical forms and traditions.
The role extends beyond classroom lessons through rehearsals, concerts, school events, and activities that make music visible within the wider educational community.
Key Responsibilities
* Teach music theory, instrumental techniques, vocal skills, rhythm, composition, and performance.
* Develop curriculum plans aligned with applicable national or international academic standards.
* Prepare structured lessons for students with different levels of musical experience and confidence.
* Demonstrate techniques clearly and provide appropriate opportunities for guided and independent practice.
* Use individual, group, and ensemble activities to build participation and cooperation.
* Adapt teaching methods for varied learning needs, interests, and musical abilities.
The teacher will help students move from foundational understanding toward confident creative expression while maintaining high expectations for effort and improvement.
* Assess student progress through practical performance, written work, projects, and classroom participation.
* Maintain accurate academic records and provide constructive feedback to students and parents.
* Organize concerts, recitals, assemblies, productions, and music-related school events.
* Encourage students to participate in ensembles, clubs, choirs, and extracurricular music activities.
* Maintain instruments, audio equipment, sheet music, digital resources, and classroom materials.
* Establish clear classroom routines and ensure equipment is handled safely.
* Use music software, multimedia tools, and digital assessment resources where appropriate.
* Collaborate with teachers to support cross-curricular learning and wider performing arts programs.
* Participate in staff meetings, parent conferences, training, and professional development.
Ideal Profile
Applicants must hold a Bachelor\'s degree in Music Education or a related field. A Master\'s degree will be preferred.
A recognized teaching qualification or license suitable for the UAE is required, such as a PGCE, Bachelor of Education, or equivalent credential.
Candidates should have at least 2 years of teaching experience, preferably within an international or bilingual school. Proficiency in one or more musical instruments is essential.
Familiarity with British IGCSE and A-Level, American Common Core or AP, or IB curriculum frameworks will be an advantage. The ideal teacher will demonstrate cultural awareness, creativity, confident classroom management, and the ability to inspire students across different skill levels.
