Role Context
The Physics Teacher - UK Curriculum role supports the continued strength of science teaching at Yasmina British Academy by delivering structured lessons, improving student progress, and contributing to a high-performing academic environment. The teacher will use data, curriculum planning, assessment feedback, and targeted support to help students close learning gaps and develop deeper understanding of physics concepts.
This position also contributes to enrichment activities, CAS programmes, after-school booster sessions, revision support, departmental improvement, and effective use of learning resources. The successful candidate will help maintain high expectations for achievement, behaviour, teaching quality, safeguarding, and student wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging Physics lessons aligned with the English National Curriculum and school academic expectations.
* Support students preparing for IGCSE, IB DP, booster sessions, revision programmes, and science enrichment activities.
* Develop, review, and improve schemes of work to ensure strong curriculum coverage across year groups and courses.
* Use assessment data to identify underachieving students and create clear action plans to support improvement.
* Analyse school and department data to inform teaching strategies, policy development, and self-evaluation planning.
* Provide effective challenge and support for SEN, POD, gifted and talented, and EAL students.
* Maintain high expectations for achievement, classroom conduct, lesson quality, and independent learning.
* Evaluate teaching and learning standards to identify effective practice and areas for improvement.
* Contribute to departmental planning, curriculum review, resource management, and academic quality assurance.
* Support the department’s contribution to CAS activities and after-school booster or revision sessions.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to strengthen science teaching and improve student outcomes.
* Use classrooms, laboratories, equipment, and learning spaces effectively to create a stimulating science environment.
* Support efficient use of departmental resources and budget-related planning where required.
* Communicate professionally with students, parents, colleagues, and school leadership.
* Uphold safeguarding, child protection, professional conduct, and school policy expectations at all times.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Physics or a closely related subject.
* PGCE or another recognised teacher qualification.
* Minimum 6 years of teaching experience.
* Experience teaching the UK curriculum.
* Strong knowledge of Physics subject content, practical science teaching, assessment standards, and curriculum progression.
* Proven ability to raise achievement and close learning gaps through effective teaching strategies.
* Experience supporting students across different ability levels, including SEN, POD, gifted and talented, and EAL learners.
* Ability to contribute to departmental development, enrichment programmes, and whole-school improvement.
* Strong communication, collaboration, classroom management, and reflective teaching skills.
