Role Context
The Primary Class Teacher - KS1 role focuses on delivering the Primary English National Curriculum within a supportive and innovative British school environment. The teacher will be responsible for creating a positive classroom culture, planning lessons for different ability levels, supporting learners with EAL or additional needs, and helping children build confidence during an important stage of their education.
This position also contributes to the wider life of the school through curriculum development, enrichment activities, parent communication, professional collaboration, and consistent safeguarding practice.
Key Responsibilities
* Teach all areas of the Primary English National Curriculum for Key Stage 1 learners.
* Plan, prepare, and deliver imaginative lessons that meet the needs of the full ability range within the class.
* Create an organised, stimulating, and child-friendly classroom that supports active learning and student confidence.
* Use displays, learning resources, and continuous provision to strengthen the classroom learning experience.
* Provide targeted support and interventions for students with EAL or additional learning needs.
* Motivate pupils through enthusiastic teaching, creative lesson delivery, and positive classroom routines.
* Monitor children’s work, provide feedback, and follow the school marking and assessment expectations.
* Reflect on lesson outcomes and adjust planning, curriculum delivery, and learning provision where needed.
* Use Learning Ladders and other assessment approaches to track attainment and progress.
* Share clear progress updates with parents and carers during conferences and school meetings.
* Apply the school behaviour management policy and promote positive values, attitudes, and conduct.
* Maintain accurate safeguarding and behaviour records using CPOMS when concerns arise.
* Work with specialists such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists when required.
* Participate in curriculum action groups, school CPD, teaching initiatives, and best practice sharing.
* Support school events, outings, activities, and extra-curricular programmes.
* Run a weekly ECA each term to enhance student learning and wider school provision.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor degree in Education or a bachelor degree in a related subject with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
* Teaching experience within the English National Curriculum.
* Proven ability to teach across the primary age and ability range.
* Experience teaching the UK National Curriculum in a school setting.
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
* Supportive team player who can collaborate across year groups and curriculum teams.
* Passion for education and a strong belief in the potential of every student.
* Ability to work under pressure, solve problems, and remain resilient in a busy school environment.
* Commitment to continuing professional development and reflective teaching practice.
* Experience in more than one international school is desirable.
