Role Context
The Primary Teacher will provide continuity of learning within Bateen World Academy\'s IB Primary Years Programme while taking responsibility for purposeful planning, classroom delivery, assessment, differentiation, and student development. The position requires teaching that builds from prior attainment while encouraging inquiry, engagement, independence, and appropriate academic challenge.
As part of an all-through international school, the teacher will also contribute beyond the primary classroom. Curriculum development, parent engagement, extracurricular activities, professional learning, examination support, and collaboration across the wider school community form important elements of the appointment.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver high-quality primary learning in accordance with the school\'s Teaching and Learning Policy.
* Create a classroom climate that supports curiosity, participation, challenge, and effective learning.
* Establish clear teaching and learning objectives for lessons and learning sequences.
* Set measurable student targets that build logically on prior attainment.
* Deliver learning experiences aligned with PYP or relevant British curriculum expectations.
* Identify SEN and People of Determination, EAL, and gifted and talented students and provide suitable differentiation.
* Structure lessons carefully to maintain appropriate pace, progression, challenge, and engagement.
* Use assessment for learning techniques to check understanding and determine appropriate next steps.
* Analyze performance data and key indicators when planning differentiated learning.
* Integrate ICT meaningfully to improve engagement, understanding, and student progress.
* Maintain appropriate discipline in accordance with the school\'s Behaviour for Learning Policy.
* Promote strong expectations for punctuality, classroom conduct, homework, and quality of work.
* Evaluate achievement against learning objectives and use findings to refine subsequent teaching.
* Mark student work according to the school\'s Marking Policy and establish clear targets for improvement.
* Maintain systematic records of attainment and progress.
* Use assessment evidence to identify individual strengths, learning gaps, and intervention requirements.
* Complete student assessments required under school, department, or relevant examination procedures.
* Prepare accurate and informative reports for parents on student achievement and development.
* Attend and support parent and student meetings, conferences, and school events.
* Contribute to curriculum development by producing, reviewing, and updating curriculum plans and schemes of work.
* Maintain current subject and pedagogical knowledge through professional reading and continuing professional development.
* Participate actively in collaborative planning and share effective teaching practices with colleagues.
* Support the school\'s CAS Programme by leading or assisting with one after-school activity each term.
* Undertake Academic Mentor and Extended Essay Supervisor responsibilities for Year 12 and Year 13 students when assigned.
* Participate in the staff duty rota and support the smooth operation of the school day.
* Provide appropriate classroom cover for absent colleagues when required.
* Support examination periods through invigilation duties according to the school\'s examination schedule.
* Demonstrate professional awareness of UAE Ministry of Education and ADEK requirements relevant to school practice.
