Role Context
The Primary Teacher - US Curriculum role supports teaching and learning at a large Abu Dhabi Charter School serving students from KG1 to Grade 5. The teacher will plan and deliver lessons that inspire students, use assessment information to support progress, and create a classroom environment where children feel motivated, safe, and ready to learn.
This position requires a flexible and reflective educator who can collaborate with colleagues, communicate effectively with parents, support students with different learning needs, and contribute to the wider life of the school through curriculum planning, events, and extra-curricular activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging lessons that help students achieve strong academic and personal outcomes.
* Plan, prepare, and present classroom sessions aligned with the school curriculum and student learning needs.
* Create an organised and positive classroom environment with suitable resources, displays, and learning routines.
* Use imaginative teaching strategies to motivate students and encourage participation, curiosity, and confidence.
* Work with fellow teachers to plan lessons that meet curriculum expectations and support consistent learning.
* Observe, assess, and track student progress in line with school assessment procedures.
* Use assessment data to adjust planning, improve classroom provision, and provide suitable intervention.
* Take responsibility for the progress, wellbeing, and classroom experience of assigned students.
* Provide feedback to parents and carers during conferences, meetings, and school communication processes.
* Work cooperatively with curriculum support staff and external professionals where required.
* Support students for whom English is not their first language through clear instruction and inclusive teaching.
* Follow the school behaviour policy and use strategies that inspire, motivate, and challenge learners.
* Promote self-control, independence, respect, and positive conduct across the classroom.
* Communicate wellbeing or safeguarding matters through school systems such as CPOMS where appropriate.
* Participate in curriculum action groups, planning, assessment, resources, and special events.
* Support school outings, activities, evening events, weekend events, and wider school initiatives when required.
* Run a weekly ECA each term to enhance student learning beyond regular classroom lessons.
* Uphold professional conduct, safeguarding expectations, and the values of the school community.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in a related subject.
* PGCE or another recognised teaching qualification.
* Minimum 1-2 years of teaching experience.
* Experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
* Clear understanding of curriculum delivery, classroom assessment, and student progress tracking.
* Ability to teach young learners with enthusiasm, patience, and strong classroom organisation.
* Strong communication skills with students, parents, colleagues, and school leaders.
* Collaborative team player with a commitment to positive school relationships.
* Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child.
* High level of professionalism and consideration for student wellbeing.
