The Psychology Teacher will take responsibility for subject delivery, student assessment and academic progress. The position also involves safeguarding, performance management, family communication and contributions to the wider life of the assigned academy.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging Psychology lessons.
Identify clear teaching objectives and assessment expectations.
Develop students’ understanding of psychological concepts and research.
Set challenging tasks that maintain high levels of student interest.
Establish demanding but achievable expectations for every learner.
Set individual targets based on students’ previous attainment.
Plan structured lessons that maintain pace, motivation and challenge.
Differentiate teaching according to pupils’ abilities and learning needs.

Recognise and extend the learning of highly able pupils.
Support students whose first language is not English.
Create an environment conducive to outstanding teaching and learning.
Ensure appropriate coverage of programmes of study.
Use assessment evidence and performance data to inform planning.

Make effective use of teaching time and available resources.
Maintain an orderly and productive learning environment.
Promote punctuality, positive behaviour and high standards of work.
Set and monitor homework in accordance with academy procedures.

Confirm that assigned work is understood and completed.

Ideal Profile
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education or another relevant field.
Recognised teaching qualification.
Minimum two years of relevant teaching experience.
Experience teaching Psychology at GCSE and A Level is desirable.
Strong knowledge of Psychology curriculum planning and assessment.
Ability to use performance data to improve student outcomes.
Experience supporting pupils whose first language is not English.
Ability to differentiate instruction for varied learning requirements.
