Role Context
The School Accountant will take operational
The role covers the complete monthly finance cycle rather than a single accounting process. This includes procurement controls, accounts payable, fixed assets, reconciliations, management reporting, budgeting, audit requirements, and parent-related financial queries, making accuracy and disciplined follow-through essential to effective school operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage finance activities assigned to Aldar Education schools, maintaining accurate and timely accounting records.
* Support preparation of annual school budgets and provide detailed analysis of expected expenditure.
* Monitor expenditure against approved budgets and highlight material variances requiring attention.
* Review Purchase Requisitions to confirm budget availability and correct accounting codes.
* Validate expenditure before commitments are processed through the purchasing workflow.
* Process supplier payments using 3-way matching between invoices, purchase orders, and goods received notes.
* Perform appropriate due diligence and validation before supplier payments are completed.
* Reconcile supplier accounts regularly and identify outstanding or unmatched transactions.
* Coordinate with relevant departments to investigate and clear supplier reconciliation differences.
* Manage school petty cash according to established policies and operational requirements.
* Create fixed asset records and maintain accurate information within the fixed asset module.
* Complete monthly depreciation runs and fixed asset closing procedures.
* Coordinate month-end close activities and ensure books are finalized accurately within reporting deadlines.
* Review profit and loss accounts and investigate entries that require correction or clarification.
* Clear unreconciled balance sheet positions and maintain reliable supporting schedules.
* Prepare monthly MIS reports and review financial results with the Assistant Finance Manager.
* Present and circulate relevant monthly management information to the Principal and Operations and Support Manager.
* Provide clear financial analysis that supports school-level operational decisions.
* Prepare monthly balance sheet schedules for review with the Assistant Finance Manager.
* Complete bank reconciliation statements and investigate outstanding reconciling items.
* Submit reviewed bank reconciliation information to Aldar Education Group Finance Treasury.
* Maintain accurate supporting documentation for financial transactions and reporting balances.
* Coordinate with school stakeholders and Head Office Finance during annual budget preparation.
* Provide requested documentation and Letters of Representation for internal and external audits.
* Respond promptly to audit requirements and assist with resolution of identified finance matters.
* Prepare ad hoc financial reports requested by internal departments and Head Office.
* Identify accounting processes that can be simplified, strengthened, or made more efficient.
* Resolve exceptional parent finance queries professionally and within appropriate timelines.
* Act as the finance point of contact for matters relating to assigned school financial operations.
* Provide accounting support to other Aldar Education schools when coverage is required.
Ideal Profile
This opportunity is designated for UAE Nationals with a degree in Accounting and at least five years of relevant finance experience, or an appropriate professional qualification.
Candidates with accounting certifications such as CPA, CA, CMA, CFA, or comparable credentials will have an advantage. A sound understanding of advanced accounting principles is essential, including practical knowledge of financial close, accounts payable, fixed assets, budgeting, reconciliations, and management reporting.
Experience using enterprise accounting software such as Oracle or SAP is important. Candidates should be comfortable working with financial systems, investigating accounting discrepancies, maintaining supporting schedules, and producing reliable management information.
Strong communication and presentation capabilities are required because the School Accountant interacts with school leadership, parents, suppliers, central finance teams, auditors, and non-finance colleagues. Administrative accuracy and the ability to manage several reporting deadlines simultaneously are equally important.
