Role Context

The School Counsellor - Student Wellbeing role supports students at Mubarak Bin Mohammed Charter School C1 by helping them manage personal, social, behavioural, and academic challenges in a caring and secure school environment. The counsellor will monitor individual student progress, provide guidance to families, support positive behaviour, and deliver suitable interventions when students require additional emotional or developmental support.

This position plays an important role in safeguarding, student confidence, bullying prevention, conflict resolution, and early identification of concerns that may affect learning or wellbeing. The successful candidate will work closely with students, parents, teachers, leadership teams, and external services where required.

Key Responsibilities

* Support students in developing personal, social, behavioural, and academic growth.
* Monitor the progress and wellbeing of individual students across the school.
* Communicate with parents to discuss student behaviour, emotional concerns, or support needs.
* Help students understand and manage social, behavioural, and personal challenges.
* Deliver counselling support based on individual student needs.
* Provide therapeutic intervention where appropriate and refer students to external services when required.
* Promote preventive and developmental counselling to help students build life skills before challenges become more serious.
* Support students in developing confidence, resilience, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Take steps to prevent bullying and provide support to students affected by bullying.
* Provide conflict resolution support and help students manage peer relationships in a healthy way.
* Identify concerns such as domestic abuse, family challenges, or other issues that may affect student development.
* Support students with practical future-readiness skills such as resume writing and interview preparation where age appropriate.
* Maintain accurate, confidential, and professional counselling records in line with school expectations.
* Work with school teams to promote a caring, respectful, and disciplined learning environment.
* Uphold safeguarding, confidentiality, child protection, and professional counselling standards at all times.

Ideal Profile

* Bachelor of Counselling.
* DCD License as School Counsellor is required.
* Minimum 2 years of experience in school counselling or another counselling role.
